System File Checker Fail

I really like the large size of the DataColor Spyder checker. Very comfortable to use.

I always use the v90 Prograde cards for my videos and stills, I always shoot at my system's max capability and these cards never fail me. Just don't leave it on the kitchen table if you have a Havanese who loves chewing small expensive items.

I needed a redundant way to back-up my picture files. (I just had a hard drive fail) The Buffalo system does it automatically. I had a little trouble setting it up but a call to customer service took care of the problem. Their rep. talked me through the setup and it has worked as advertised.

I've had this drive for a couple of years without failure. Yes, as some have mentioned, it runs pretty much continuously unless you set up some power management, but I prefer to shut my system down, and it powers down with it. I recently had the power supply fail in the device, just before the warranty expired, and I used their website's chat to contact them. They gave me the option to ship it to them or install the board myself (it was fairly simple), and I opted to install it myself. They shipped it to me quickly, and I was back up in very little time. With the new power supply, it turned out one of my drives failed, and I was getting some odd behavior from the lights, so I got back online with them, and the quickly got my system back up, with all of my data in place. They were friendly, professional, and fast. Electronics fail, and my experience with them turned a bad situation into a good experience.

Even though it seems to be of a design that may fail, I have used it non-stop for two years of Production Sound for double system film sound recording and it has worked perfectly. I actually bought two of them in case one failed, but so far I have only used one. It is much better than the one made by Sound Devices, because it has a lower profile when fitted with an XL-B3 battery pack. A professional will pay attention to what they are doing when inserting and removing this, and will never have problems!
