T3 Performance Photos

After having long since outgrown my starter camera, an entry-level Canon SLR I bought in college, I took the leap with my first foray into owning a true professional's camera. A month and a half in, and I'm glad I did-the X-T3 is a delight. Having ISO, shutter speed, exposure comp, and aperture (on most lenses) immediately available for adjustment without menu diving or holding down context keys is an absolute game-changer, making me feel more directly connected to all my of my exposure decisions. I've developed a habit of starting to dial in settings as I walk into position for a shot, before I even turn my camera on, the immediacy and tactility giving me a headstart. Paired with the 18-55 kit lens, it may be a while before I even feel the need to spend more on glass, with sharpness and color reproduction being excellent even wide open. Autofocus is super quick, more than enough to keep up with my high-energy pets (make sure you install the 4.0 firmware update for a huge performance increase here). Compared to the X-T4, the biggest shortcoming here is the lack of IBIS, but I don't think folks beyond full-time videographers will miss it much; with a stabilized lens and the X-T3's already-great high-ISO performance, I've had no issues in low-light situations for stills. Pair this all with the aesthetic-it's just a pretty camera to look at and carry around-and I've had a really hard time just letting it sit on my desk when I'm not shooting.

The Fujifilm X-T3 is an excellent camera. The performance and ergonomics of the camera are great. I was looking a mirrorless platform to switch and decided to try out the Fujifilm X-T3 after doing some extensive research about the options available in the marketplace. I have been very impressed with the responsive and ease of use of the camera. I like that the controls are on the outside of the body. I don't have to dive into menus to change features like the shutter speed, aperture, or ISO. The Q menu is logical. I like the design of the GUI that the Fujifilm X-T3 employs. Eye auto focus is very reliable. The colors from the Fujifilm X-T3 are amazing. SOOC shots are beautiful. I have been using the X-T3 as my primary camera for over the past 7 months now without any problems. I don't miss my Nikon D810 in any way. The features and capabilities of the Fujifilm X-T3 can stand up against any full frame or crop sensor camera on the market today. Fujifilm does an excellent job with supporting the Fujifilm X-T3 through firmware updates that are incredibly easy to install using the Fujifilm app on my iPhone. I would definitely recommend this camera for portraiture. If you are looking for a camera that will inspire you to use it and is reliable, look no further than the Fujifilm X-T3. You won't be disappointed. I do wish the camera had IBIS. I believe Fujifilm will release an update version of the X-T series camera with IBIS.

Robust eye-AF was enough to win me over to the X-T3, but then Fuji boosted the performance specs on the video side of the camera. It's impossible to say "no" to this camera. Compact, comfortable and powerful.

As an owner of the X-T3, I can truly say that this is a mini X-T3 with little functionality taken away. Image quality and performance both in stills and video is exceptional. The biggest gripes with this camera is with handling and usability, which is understandable given the tiny size. The mic jack is 2.5mm, requiring an adaptor for most external mics. There is also very little grip on the camera, and so it is awkward with anything but small lenses. But you knew you were buying a small camera ahead of time! I think this camera is great as a backup to a larger camera, as I am using it with regards to the X-T3.

The X-T3 has very high bitrate video capabilities--up to 400 Mbps--as well as high-speed burst photo modes of up to 30 frames per second. If you don’t use SD cards that are fast enough, you run the risk of not being able to use those features or even losing footage or photos.  After doing some research I discovered that these UHS-II cards are rated very high for use on the Fuji XT3.  I purchased them and have been very happy with the screaming speed I now have when shooting flying birds at 30 fps rate without much slowing down until after 30-40 frames have been shot.  I have been using on video and photos now for about 3 weeks and have been extremely happy.

I am moving from Nikon (D810 and a number of lenses) to Fuji X-T2/T3. In addition to landscapes, macro, and travel photos I like to do bird photography. I am still mastering the focus system on the Fuji cameras and have tested the Fuji 100-400mm lens for several weeks. Thus far I am satisfied. I dont feel I am yet tracking birds in flight as well as with my Nikon, but the image quality is at least comparable. See attached photos.

I wanted to upgrade from a Canon T3 I had used for about a year. I take wildflower photos. I have a Canon EFS 60mm f/2.8 macro usm lens to use with it.

I had contemplated changing out gear for quite some time and after many trials and tribulations I did finally decide to trade-in and sell off the big heavy gear and move to reduce weight and space. As an avid (and aging) travel and adventure photographer I like many others are finding it more difficult hauling my gear through the airports let alone up mountains.  I had been watch Fuji's product development and decided to make the move when they released the X-T3. I am often asked about going to mirrorless as well reducing to a cropped sensor. So mirrorless means owning a few extra batteries with a little learning curve and when I think back about cropped sensors I'm reminded that one of my most prized photos was actually shot with an 8mp Canon 20D (my first digital SLR). While sensor technology and software development have made great strides, I think Fujifilm has edged the competition with the X-T3.  After a recent trip to the Galapagos Islands I was going through some sunset photos of one of their most iconic monoliths and after having thrown a jpeg from one of these shots out onto social mead I decided to post process the raw file. To my amazement the sensor actually captured some detail on the dark side of the monolith with the sunlight coming directly at me. The attached images are the the same photo the color saturation changes when you expose the shadow details. The quality of the cameras bodies and lenses I have so far is outstanding and if you're a lover of classic camera design (and I am) just look at this beauty.

So i’ve been using Canon for easily 10 years if not more, i started with a T3i, then jumped to a 7DM2, 5DM2, then a 5DM3 which has been my main camera for photos and video which honestly is a beast of a camera!! It took me a year to decide on a new camera, i was going to grab a Eos R but i think i payed too much attention to reviewers and for some reason i didn’t go for the Eos R even though two of my friends own one and locve it!! So i decided to take a chance on Fujifilm not knowing anything about the system. I love the X-T3!! Night photos aren’t as great as my 5DM3, or maybe i haven’t figured it out yet, but i bought it mainly for video and it’s amazing and after the price dropped $500 i just had to grab it!! I got the kit lense and it super good as well, obviously i plannon buying some primes in the next few months but within a few days of purchasing the X-T3 with the 18-55mm lense, i shot a music video in low light with F-LOG and the footage quality is fantastic!! Honestly i could care less about IBIS since i’ve never had IBIS before anyway, and a flip out screen isn’t important to me since i’m not a “Youtuber”. I got a Smallrig cage and handle for this and a 4K monitor and my setup is great now and i’m extremely happy with it!! Don’t listen too much to those youtube reviews, if you’re thinking of grabbing an X-T3 then just get it. It’s a great camera and at a great price, i’ll keep using my Canon 5DM3 for my concert photography but i’ll use the X-T3 for my video work.
