Take your filter off only when Sun is in totality 5 |

These glasses allowed safe and full eclipse viewing, even with the cloud cover at the totality. 5 |

These solar eclipse glasses worked well even we did not have 100% totality. They were an inexpensive solution for keeping our eyes safe while viewing the eclipse. 5 |

How can I stress this enough. TAKE THE LENS HOOD OFF! I was getting a square image, no circle. I started to panic. Couldn't find anything on online about what was happening. I was getting mad. I called Nikon. They were looking into the problem. Then someone on the phone said the words lens hood. I immediately knew the problem. I took the lens hood off and voila! Problem solved. I didn't even think about it beforehand because the 14-24 has a built in lens hood that doesn't come off. Rookie mistake. Felt like a real idiot in front of the entire office. Yes, you may laugh at me. Go right ahead. Hopefully my mistake will keep you from making the same! 5 |

I bought the filter for the April 8th total eclipse. The shots were sharp and provided good protection for my camera. (I covered the lens when I wasn’t taking pictures.). The biggest benefit was that I could check my focus and exposure during the partial eclipse, then during totality, I just took the filter off and I was ready to shoot. (I learned online that the exposure settings with the filter before totality are the same settings during totality with the filter off!) The filter gives you a white light image. 5 |

Ordered only a couple of days before the eclipse. Took it to the border of Canada to see the totality. Worked great! 5 |
