Tamron 35Mm F1.4

Tested a Canon 35mm f1.4, and the Tamron resolved better on the 5Ds-r, especially wide open. Now that I have an R7 for wildlife, I threw this lens on... razor sharp, fantastic bokeh and a similar field of view a 56mm lens would give on a full frame. If I could only have one prime lens, this would be it.

I was not aware of the Tamron 35mm F1.4 lens when it first came out. When I came across a few YouTube reviews, I became interested. It is a lens for a full frame camera and my camera is the crop sensor Nikon D500. In the center, the resolution is a hair shy of my Sigma 40mm f 1.4 lens. However, it has very slightly more contrast. At and near the edge of the sensor the resolution of my Tamron 35mm f1.4 has very slightly less resolution than the 40mm f1.4 Sigma lens. But, at very fast apertures ( f1.4 to about f2) , near the edge of the sensor, the bokeh is slightly smoother with the Tamron than with the Sigma. I rate both lenses very highly, five stars, with a slight overall edge to the Sigma. But in tight situations, the Tamron often turns out to be the better choice. The focus of my copy the Tamron 35mm f1.4 obtains sharp focus at the intended focus point at all distances without the need to adjust the focus with Tamron's Tap-in Console.

This lens is tack sharp and a great less-expensive substitue for the 35mm f1.4L lens!

sharp at f1.4 - what else do you need? Minor image degradation at the extreme edges. Only Sigma 40 mm f1.4 lens can compete, but not Sigma 35 mm f1.4. I have both 35 mm Tamron and 40 mm Sigma. Be patient with Canon 5Ds R - the latter is Canon's fault, not Tamron's. I use it on Sony A7 III as well.

This is a nice filter with good price. I used it for my Sony 35mm/F1.4 and it works well

Use it with my A7RII and Canon 35mm F1.4L. A great combo for sure. Very happy.

Great lens and fast shipping. Needed a wide prime lens and this Sigma 35mm F1.4 DG DN fills that role perfectly.

I've always liked the 35mm focal length, and when I bought my Sony camera, I researched all available 35mm lenses. I read available reviews and it came down between the Sigma and the the Sony 35mm GM f1.4. I tried the Sony, but, though reviewers say it is light and small for what it is, it was simply too big (long). Also, I do not need f1.4. The Sigma is not all that different from the Sony in the way the two lenses render, and differences in sharpness are small enough for me. Given the price of the two lenses, my decision was easy to make. I looked at the Sony f1.8, the Sony f2.8, the Samyang 2.8 and 1.8, but I find a lens without an aperture ring not as inspiring. This Sigma is sharp enough and has a pleasant rendering, and the price is right. I like it! This is one of the reviews for the lens I relied on, before buying it: https://www.fredmiranda.com/forum/topic/1686080/0
