I have powered up my old Tannoy System 8 monitors in my home studio after using various powered speakers the past few years. This little Pyle amp makes them sound as good or better than my old Kenwood that pooped out 10 years ago. They have such good bass that I don't need a sub. I am pleasantly surprised by this inexpensive piece of gear. I even like the the blue light. Go Pyle! 5 |

These pads fit my Tannoy Reveal 402 monitors perfectly. I purchased these and the monitors at the same time after reading many reviews recommending them. I agree with the reviews...I highly recommend these if you want to cut down on some of the boominess of your speakers. They are a cost effective way to upgrade your speakers. So before you go out and spend $500 to upgrade your boomy speakers....go spend $30 and get these. They might just help. 5 |

The headline says it all. I bought these to get a pair of Tannoy 800 speakers up to ear level on an office desk. They work fine and are stable for the heavy speakers. 5 |

These Mackie speakers are really surprisingly good, especially for the price. They do take more power to drive than the Tannoy Reveal 501A's they replaced, but that's no big deal. It took a little bit of time to find just the right spot and angle for them on my desk, but now I'm treated to nice, deep, tight bass unlike anything I expected. These are rated to 50Hz and I can tell that's not an over exaggeration. The highs are much less sibilant and noisy than the previous Tannoy speakers I had. I listen to a lot of EDM, Rock, and Metal so mids and lows are critical. I do have a small subwoofer which fills out the sound just a little bit, but honestly these don't need it. I compared these to the MRMK3 speakers, and these really improve the clarity and accuracy of the music. I also cross-shopped PreSonus, Sterling Audio, KRK, Focal, Yamaha, and Pioneer. All the brands have their pluses and minuses, so it really comes down to personal preference. For what it's worth, I didn't find the Mackie MR524's to be quite as clear or bright as the PreSonus Eris E5's, but ultimately the lack of mid-bass response from the PreSonus speakers was the deciding factor. The PreSonus would be fantastic if you're primarily listening to classical or vocal music, but for everything else I think Mackie has them beat hands-down for the same price. I drive the Mackie's from my computer via Optical S/PDIF to a Yamaha RX-V1 receiver. I then pass the unbalanced output to a CleanBox Pro for balancing and run XLR to the speakers themselves. I keep volume on all devices around 50-60%. I have no doubt I could blast these to ear-deafening levels but I actually like my neighbors. 5 |

Put this between my Mac Mini and a decent NAD amp with Tannoy bookshelf speakers in my office, and wow what a difference it makes! Wonderfully clear details and punchiness that previously never came out. I bought my first external DAC 15+ years ago (Benchmark) for something silly like $1300... haven't put them side-by-side but the improvement I've heard with this seems to be on par - great value. 5 |
