I don't know what I can really say about a stand adapter but this one is excellent. I really like being able to go from horizontal to vertical with just a simple movement of the adapter locking handle. I have been using it with a 4X6 soft box and studio strobe and it's not a problem for this adapter at all. Good at handling heaver loads. Im going to purchase a second one for my other strobe to. 5 |

I just purchased my third SSL-36. My original need was vertical lighting of a green screen. I just built a system to carry three of these high and horizontal across the front of the video stage. If I can get an extension power cable from Generay between the control module and the lamp this will be a perfect stage light system. The photo shows my test build of a transportable stage lighting rig. The unobstructed span from light stand to light stand is 17'. The horizontal pole is 1 1/4 aluminum pipe joined with speed rail connectors. The stands are Manfrotto 231CS. They are substantial and transportable. I found that doubling the sliding arm is needed when the load gets heavy. A pair of the 50 vertical strips lights is planned for the green screen 5 |

This stand is big and solid. The safety device that prevents the boom from falling over to the horizontal is well engineered and makes sure that moving the section from upright stand to horizontal boom is a deliberate one. 5 |

Holds our cell phones steadily & swivels if you want horizontal shots. Balanced enough to stand on it's own without attaching it to a tripod. 5 |

I used this for one to 3 person 1/2 and 3/4 portraits in relatively small spaces at clients homes. I found the stand easy to clip, requiring just carefully looking at how the spring loaded clip works to hold the stiff metal rim of the backdrop. The upper clip should be attached first because it suspends the whole backdrop. Only then raise the stand to above your head and attach the lower clip by sliding the plastic clip ring to the bottom of the backdrop above the bottom tightening knob. Don't try to support the backdrop weight, but suspend it. The bottom clip just steadies the backdrop from twisting. I've used the backdrop in both vertical and horizontal positions for 1/2 and 3/4 poses. It's good for 3 in a family, but not more. The Lastolite material is wonderful because it stretches tightly and shuns wrinkles, unlike some muslin and one collapsible Botero units I tried. Wrinkles mean post processing time- you might be better off with Savage paper! There is an almost invisible horizontal cross warp in the Lastolite material which will barely show if you cannot get the subjects 3-4 feet in front of the backdrop and back off to use a 60 or 70mm lens zoom at 5.6 or wider. But the grain is acceptable if you do not clone stamp or blur it much. Grey color of this unit is as shown, similar to Savage Thunder gray paper. The trick for set up is to start in a room with more than 15 feet of space in front of and across the backdrop wall. Don't worry about what's behind the backdrop, it will not show through as long as it isn't something like a bright window. Gray backdrops look good with most clothing and you can drop them to black or to very light gray by changing your background lighting and gels look great with dark tones. I find it a good color to start with formal portraits. Excellent product, very light and portable. I'd like to have more of these. 5 |

This stand does exactly what it advertises - but it takes some finagling to get it in the position you want the first time. B&H mentions how to convert the boom into a horizontal position, but it still took me a bit. All the manufacturer had to do was include a little diagram or something.... But in any case, I'm really happy I got the stand because its very tall and sturdy and now I can put lights or reflectors in just about any position I need now. 5 |

If you'd like more flexibility with your television, then hanging on the wall, and you want to be able to move it to various locations, this is the only stand to get. It's completely stable, infinitely strong, reasonably priced and very easy to move. I highly recommend it. 5 |
