Texas School Shooting Surveillance Camera

I took John Hartman's light painting class at Texas School and this is one of the tools needed to support the Godox light used in class. Works well! Doing the work without it or something like ir really wouldn't be possible. GOOD TOOL, FAIR PRICE!

This is kind of old school, it is literally a printed card with an alphanumeric license key on it, very 1998. You enter it manually into the Surveillance Station software. I hadn't typed a license key in like 10 years, it was kinda fun. No one likes paying licensing fees, of course. But this is fully transferable, so you can migrate it from one Synology box to another. Synology clearly puts a lot of resources into Surveillance Station, I have been running it for half a decade and it keeps evolving and improving. These products stand the test of time, my 12 year old Synology NAS not only still works, but is still supported. My Synology NVR runs better today than it did when I got it five years ago. So at least you get something for your license fee, and won't ever have to pay it again.

Worked perfectly with my 35mm 1.4 on a sunny Texas afternoon..With it, while shooting video,I was able to keep a steady 1/50th shutter at about a f3 or f4...

It rains so much here in SE Texas, I decided to get these and not let it stop me from shooting. These are dubbed as disposalbe by some. But if you're careful and don't damage it you can use them over and over. There's a hole to see through the viewfinder, but it's not really necessary. If you use live view you can see right through the plastic. Even looking through the finder, you can see good enough through it. Probably not clear enough view for manual focus, but if you're using autofocus, no problem. Also I would recommend attching a piece of rubber such as a bicycle tube to the lens hood. That way when you tighten the draw string against the rubber it will grip it and not slide around.

I used this tripod for the 4/8/2024 eclipse, shooting in Texas. It was fast to set up, much quicker than the 20 year old Gitzo G1325 mk II it replaced. (Non-twisting legs are a big help for tightening or loosening leg locks.) It was plenty robust enough for the 14+ pound weight of an EOS R7 with adapted EF 500/4L IS (1st version) on either a Benro Polaris Astro tracking head or a Zenelli gimbal head.

The vello off camera Flash cord is the perfect item to use that harsh flash when shooting for that old-school fashion look with a flash bracket. Having the flash off the hot shoe in a bracket also gives that vintage camera look when shooting with clients, overall super recommended for anyone looking to try shooting for that old school straight harsh flash style.

I'm using it for concerts, where it improves footage that previously looked more like a surveillance camera!

I am using this product in my surveillance camera box and i am most happy with it .I think it dose the job better than the green one that was in the box before.
