Great gadget to shoot a smooth video without shaking it. Looks like a real movie.

I shoot a lot of home movies and edit them together carefully, so I got this camera to replace all the point and shoots with movie mode that I'd been using over the years. I go for more warm, intimate looking picture. I really love the look of this camera's footage. It's not perfect, but I find it to be vibrant and pleasant. It has some chromatic aberration, especially when zoomed in some, but I actually feel like it gives it a bit of an analog warmth. The CMOS sensor feels more like the movie modes in point and shoots, which is also something I like, but with really decent HD image depth and detail. Great picture! It's not going to give you full frame style depth of field like the 5D (or even of a point and shoot), it's not high end, but it's priced really well and the performance for the price has been close to breathtaking. I didn't care for the touchscreen and menu layouts at first.. and really, I guess I still don't, but I got used to it in a matter of days and find that it's more of a matter of working the way the camera's engineers intended for you to, as opposed to going against the will of the camera. This is a zen exercise, if this doesn't work for you, then you probably need to spend a lot more money for a camera that's a lot more manual. There are ways to lock down and dial in focus, exposure, shutter, aperture, but it's just not laid out in such a way as to be quickly accessible. I shoot fast and plentiful, so that's out for me. I would recommend, as others do, in turning down the auto gain compensation or it can get grainy kind of quick in low light.. and for the love of all that's holy: use one of the progressive modes.. 60i is for football games and bad tv. Finally, learn what the different OIS modes are tweaked for, or you can end up with some twitchy pans. I really love this camera.

“BWxx” is Eastman 5222 movie film, and it works wonderfully for stills. I shoot it at ISO 250 with a yellow k2 filter, then develop in Rodinal for 9 minutes, agitation 10 sec out of each minute. Results are rich tonality, with moderate contrast, and abundant but pleasing grain. Highly recommended.

Used this on a film-noir movie shoot and the photos came back not just good, but excellent. Because of the extreme low light situations, I often had to push this film to 3200 and it performed without a hitch. I expected the scans to come back grainy, but instead they were beautiful, great contrast, sharp and low grain. After my experience with this film I can't imagine using another black and white.

I have numerous battery grips for my Canons. I shoot on movie sets and having a battery grip allows me to shoot for hours, sometimes over several days without having to constantly switch and charge batteries. This grip was super easy to install and is lightweight. Love it!

I got this to inspire me to shoot my first movie. May use DSLRs and separate audio. This will help me organize shots and synchronize audio between the camera and the external audio.
