Using this as the foundation for a video editing rig. Installed a 16 core threadripper pro, 128 of Ram. Bunch of NVME. Lit up on first start and haven't looked back. Runs DaVinci with no worries. 5 |

What can I say that hasn't been said. This CPU is 2nd to none... until the Gen4 Threadripper comes out. It runs at about 40c.. seen it go up to about 45c when gaming. Haven't fully tested it with video editing and music production.. but I am sure it will be way better than the 3600 it replaced. Unless you are willing to wait for and spend a lot more on a 16core (or 32 or 64 core) TR4 end of year or so.. if you can find one of these.. and you have the need to use up to 16 cores, this is the CPU to own. 5 |

I purchased the 64-core AMD 5995WX Threadripper to process overlapping drone images to 2D models. Prior to this I was using a 12-core AMD 5900X. The 5900 processed 4 PIX4Dmapper jobs (running together) containing 1,900 files totaling 15GB in 5 hours and 45 minutes. The 64-core Threadripper completed the same job in 95 minutes. Popped one into an Threadripper box, another into a 5950x, reboot and 10 GBASE-T recognized for both. 2.37 GB on a 2.5 GB network, 5 GB on a 10GB network but I suspect copper wiring slowing things down on the latter. Will buy again! 5 |
