Thunderbolt 2 To Usb C Cable For Mac

This cable makes super-fast data transfers. I hooked it up to my Xcellon M2NS USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 M.2 SSD Enclosure and was very impressed with the speeds it provided. This cable and an M.2 drive are a match made in heaven and give blazing speeds. It also rated for 8k or dual 4k monitor support which is fantastic. Another nice plus is it is rated to handle 240w power delivery so it can be used to charge or power most accessories (laptops, peripherals etc.). This cable is definitely future proof and ready for whatever you throw at it, including the ability to daisy chain up to 6 additional devices. It is designed to work with Thunderbolt 4, Thunderbolt 3, and USB-C so it is very versatile. The build quality is also fantastic. Cable feels great and is flexible but still sturdy. Connectors seem to be made of quality materials and should last a long, long time. This cable is great. [I have received this product in exchange for my honest review]

On a Mac, at least. Make sure you have an actual thunderbolt 3 cable.

For thunderbolt 4, it works extremely well. It surprisingly did not work as well over USB-C 3.2 on my Linux machine running PopOS as well as the stardock USB-C dock did which was surprising to me (but maybe it shouldn't have been?) For best performance, you do want to go to their support website and install the kernel extensions and the docking manager. You may need to reboot the Mac if it's your first time connecting it. Other than that, it works exactly like you would expect it to. I used the built in display port and then an HDMI to usb-c cable that feeds into one of the thunderbolt 4 ports. On my M1 16 inch MacBook Pro, it handles both displays (and it's own built in screen if opened) exactly like you would expect it to. However, my M1 Mac mini would only ever output my first display via DP and ignored the hdmi to usb-c input. For that, I had to use the dedicated HDMI port on the mini and then it worked. Take that for what you will but it seems to have nothing to do with Caldigit (and no the DisplayLink Manager didn't fix anything either for the Mac mini despite the aforementioned stardock usb-c only dock being able to do 2 with the software running, I think it's a thunderbolt 4/M1 thing though). The construction is rock solid, the metal feels nice and it's actually pretty small for as many ports are packed into this thing. I've been trying to get it since March and it was well worth the wait

Works great on the USB-C/Thunderbolt port on the Mac Mini M1 to get a second display.

Excellent cable for my Thunderbolt 4 ports as well as other USB-C ports, as it's backwards compatible. Bought several lengths.

Running out of ports in my Mac Studio, so I tried this. So far it has been excellent. Everything I could hope for. Thunderbolt and USB-C and old USB all seem to work great. It is decently compact. It has been totally transparent in my system. It is expensive, but I'm happy.

Sturdy and compact all in one. Works great. A definite need for the Mac Book Pros since it only has Thunderbolt 3/USB C connectors. Great product!

Purchased it to work with my older Mac Pro 2010 5,1. Especially handy since it has Thunderbolt 3 and USB C. Found out that it tops out just over 500MBS as a RAID 0 using TB3 or the USB-C so... a Sonnet Allegra USB card for USB 3.1 Gen 2 and I'm good to go on my older Mac Pro. When I upgrade to a new Mac Pro I'll switch to TB 3 and it will continue to reap benefits. Wondering if I could swap the 2 hard drives for 4GB SSD for an even faster setup.

I have a Mac with 4 USB 3 ports and a Thunderbolt Dock with 3 USB 3 ports, but I still needed a convenient location with powered USB 3 ports for frequently used devices such as iOS devices and thumb drives. This fits the bill perfectly. It conveniently sits on top where it is easy to plug & unplug devices. It has a small blue pilot light that confirms that it has power. It will work without external power in an emergency if the devices that are plugged in don't demand much power.

I purchased to expand connections to Mac Mini M1, to connect a couple external drives (one was Thunderbolt 1), and to have another USB-A available, since the two jacks on the Mini were used for the Magic Keyboard and Magic Trackpad. It's been running nearly constantly since early 2021 (this Mac Mini remains powered up all the time). While it's true that if you bump up against the Thunderbolt input cable, it can disconnect, I have not had that issue happen much at all since connecting it. However I have it in a fixed position on desktop (so it's rare to be sufficiently bumped). I've not run this with an 'speed' tests, since I only have disk drives connected. If I were to subtract a half star, it would be that I wished it had another USB-A port. But I knew the port specs before purchase.
