Thunderbolt Cable For Mac Monitor

On a Mac, at least. Make sure you have an actual thunderbolt 3 cable.

On my mac mini 2018 with a 4k monitor, I swapped an HDMI to HDMI cable with this thunderbolt to displayport cable. Huge difference! Before, the entire display was sluggish and unresponsive. Now, the picture is sharp, and the UI is smooth and responsive.

I ordered this as I had to add one more monitor for my WFH. But I have already used only available HDMI port in my Mac Book Pro (2014 with Thunderbolt 2) As soon as i connected my monitor using HDMI port and Thunderbolt to MBP. it detected immediately.

After looking around for a monitor upgrade for my Mac with Thunderbolt 3, I found the LG on B&H at a great price. It by far the best monitor I have had. The 5K display look as sharp as any I have found and an added bonus is the PBP feature so I can have two screens displayed at the same time. Talk about multitasking, I may wind up with split personality disorder. Just kidding.   Iit has HDMI and display port inputs it can handle any CPU.

I have been hunting for a new monitor for a while. And since I am a Mac user I was hoping for thunderbolt. I started with the LG 34WK95U-W 34 which I really loved but getting the proper resolution with the mac was very difficult and it had a dead pixel so I returned it Next up was the highly rated LG 32UD99-W bases off the rtings.com recommendation. Sadly after using the 34WK95U-W I could not get over the image quality delta. And so I returned it. I kept this pattern up until finally getting the BENQ. I have to say I love this monitor. Almost no backlight bleed and the uniformity is wonderful. I am very sensitive to PWM dimming and this has none.

I recently bought a new Mac Mini with the M1 chip. It only has two Thunderbolt /USB 4 ports. I needed more ports to support my external Thunderbolt disk chain, a second monitor, an external USB hub, and a dedicated port for my Primera Disc Publisher. With some additional work and compromise, I could actually get what I needed with only the two ports on the Mac, but it would require running some of the Thunderbolt discs off the USB hub. Some discs use USB 3 can be plugged into the USB hub but I wanted to have separate connections for the USB hub, the Thunderbolt disc chain, and the second monitor. I connected everything as I needed for my configuration and this hub worked perfectly: the discs on the the Thunderbolt disc chain worked, the devices plugged into the USB hub all worked, and the second monitor worked, all without any problems. I did not try charging anything but the power supply provides up to 5 amps at 20 volts DC. Based on my experience I would recommend this device to anyone needing additional Thunderbolt/USB 4 ports.
