Thunderbolt Cable Macbook Air To Imac

Not much to say--it's a cable and it works. Using it to connect a 2015 MacBook Air with a Thunderbolt 2 port (Mini DisplayPort) to a Dell 4K monitor using the HDMI input.

Migrated from an old iMac to a new MacBook Pro. Needed more connectivity than that offered by the three Thunderbolt 4 ports on the MacBook. Spoke with an associate at B&H Photo who recommended this dock. It handles all the connectivity I need for 2 external hard drives, a digital/audio interface, MIDI keyboard, Lightning connectors for my iOS devices, and more. I'm quite amazed that these are all connected to a single Thunderbolt 4 port and are working just fine without any lag. I was a little concerned that the Thunderbolt 3 Dock might not handle the job, but I've seen no issues.

Love this item as I have a MacBook Air and there are only thunderbolt ports , I use this hub for ethernet high speeds at my desk along with the HDMI cable to connect to my monitor and the USB for my files all at the same time!! it looks big in the pics buts Super light and small I give it 10 out of 10!

I purchased the Xcellon Portside Dock to expand the functionality of my 2020 MacBook Air. Disappointingly, the MacBook Air only provides two Thunderbolt 3 ports for peripherals, one of which I usually have connected to the power supply. In addition, the Thunderbolt 3 ports are not compatible with the older USB connectors that I used with my older MacBook Pro, making it impossible for me to connect my MackBook Air to the peripherals I regularly use with USB connectors. The Xcellon Portside Dock allowes me to connect to my MacBook Air using those older USB connectors. In addition to that, the Xcellon Portside Dock has an SD card slot, which I use to download photos to my MacBook Air. In short, I find that the Xcellon Portside Dock makes my MacBook Air a more versatile and functional machine.

With a MacBook Air, you have only two Thunderbolt ports. This multiport adapter adds two USB-A ports, a USB-C port, and an 4K HDMI port, effectively giving you four ports with the use of one Thunderbolt already on your MacBook Air. And, it's small enough to easily carry in a pocket.

The only cable recommended by NEC to connect a PA271 W or Q to a new iMac with Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) ports. Lightweight and stable, it is a vast improvement over the ungainly and expensive MINI DISPLAYPORT TO DUAL-LINK DVI required to connect these monitors to the older Thunderbolt 2 iMacs.

Never really used the thunderbolt ports before then I bought my 27in 5k iMac and wanted to use the cable to run migration assistant between my Macbook Pro and the new iMac... WOW it took like 10 minutes! that is as opposed to the last time I ran migration assistant off WiFi an Airport Extreme time capsule backup that took HOURS. Now I just need to figure out what to do next with this cable

Fast spinning, easily readable, external hard drive solution. I was looking for a thunderbolt option for my new (late) 2013 27 iMac. I have 256GB of Flash storage, but I don't trust SSD to hold important data when it could be easily lost if the drive failed. Spinning disk drives, like the G-RAID, could still potentially have data saved off the platters. My 1st project used the 8TB G-RAID drive as an on-location, portable, video editing drive. Using the thunderbolt cable (supplied), the offloading, editing and overall speed of the drive were nothing short of FAST!! Very glad I didn't listen to reviews saying Thunderbolt wasn't worth the extra expense. Don't listen to them...it is noticeably effective. It does stop spinning every once and while if not in use, but will re-spin when I access finder or any files off the drive. It only takes about 5 seconds to get back up and running. The motor is slightly noticeable, but can easily tuned out when focusing on work. I have it 2 feet from my computer. The supplied Thunderbolt cable is short, but I spent the extra $30 for the longer version just to have the option in the field. Everything you need comes in the box. Its beautifully made and compliments the iMac well. In the future, I will buy more of these and daisy chain.

Plugged into my iMac Retina with the included Thunderbolt cable and the drive was quickly recognized. Reading and writing to this drive has proven to be fast - no complaints whatsoever. The only thing that might annoy some users is the sound of the fan, which is a necessary evil to keep the drives cools. That aside, I'm quite happy with the product and consider it money well-spent.

I needed something to replace the bulky cable to go from Thunderbolt to DVI-D for my 30 monitor when I got a new iMac with Thunderbolt3. This does the trick.
