Thunderbolt Cable Not Working On Mac

On a Mac, at least. Make sure you have an actual thunderbolt 3 cable.

Notice how Apple stopped selling their Thunderbolt Pro cable? I have one. It stopped working after a year. This Cable is solid. Hasn't failed me (yet).

Reliable product. Length of cable is great for use with a single stationary Mac. Thunderbolt speed is great. Did have to buy aThunderbolt to Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) adapter since I have a new Mac with the Thunderbolt 3 port. Just something to be aware of.

After running Lightroom and Photoshop on a MacBook Pro for about 5 years, I finally broke down and bought the Mac Pro. I did not realize how much time I had been wasting, twiddling my thumbs while the old MacBook churned away processing images. The Mac Pro is very fast and quiet and has a nice assortment of ports. After purchasing a Thunderbolt to Firewire adapter, I was able to quickly mount two daisy chained external Firewire drives along with a USB3 drive and a new Thunderbolt backup drive. It is also nice to have the 1TB internal flash drive for software and temporary storage. It took me a while to figure out that I needed a new, Thunderbolt to Display Port cable to connect the Mac Pro to my 27 inch NEC monitor. Once I got the NEC cable and a keyboard, I was quickly up and running with a monitor resolution of 2560 x 1440 (no adaptor required). Although the Mac Pro does not have an optical drive, I learned that it can share the drive on my MacBook Pro using WiFi or an ethernet cable. I was able to use this approach to install some software that I have on CDs. Overall, I am very happy with the Mac Pro. It may be the last computer that I ever buy.
