Every digital camera that I've ever bought, I bought one of his books (if there was one out there). His approach to how he explains things, tips and suggestions are priceless. Thanks David and B&H for selling his books. 5 |

Serious hobby with good equipment. Shots mostly from tripod. Digital photography with heavy equipment. Secure camera mounting. Fast flip from landscpe to portrate. Able to level camera without leveling the tripod in most cases. (only pan shots requrie tripod leveling) Handles could be better positioned for shooting up at angles above 25 degrees 5 |

Jan 24, 2016 Review of: Magnus PV-7451M Tripod/Monopod with 3-Way Pan/Tilt Head I purchased the Magnus tripod for use with my Canon Rebel XT DSLR. I'm taking a digital photography class at Umpqua Community College here in Oregon, and since I was going to be taking a lot of different kind of photographs to meet the syllabus of this course I needed a good tripod. My other tripod was in use with one set of 25 x 100 Celeste on astronomical binoculars, and between these two issues was a good excuse for a new tripod. I had had good experience with B&H photo before, went online to see what they carried in the way of tripods. Wow, quite a collection of tripods. So I narrowed down the criteria for my choice and went with the Magnus PV 7451M. The reviews that were online were very favorable and the fact that the center portion of the tripod was removable for use as a monopod was a real plus. The quick release mechanism for attaching my camera has turned out to be a tremendous advantage. I bought my Canon Rebel XT in 2008 and had used its 18-55 lens for general photography. The primary reason I bought the camera was it was a good quality DSLR, and with a few accessories could be used with my telescopes for digital astrophotography. (I have a 5 inch Maksutov-Cassegrain on an Alt-Az mount and an 8 inch Schmidt- Cassegrain on a German equatorial mount.) So most of my use of the camera has been astronomical in nature, that is until I started taking my digital photography class. So in summary, the tripod has allowed me the flexibility I need to meet the class requirements and to learn some new tricks in terrestrial photography. Thus, even as a novice user I find the tripod meets all of my requirements and works as advertised 5 |
