Toaster Hdd Dock Station

Was looking for a low cost hard drive toaster to clone my hdd to a ssd. Hooked up via usb, transferred my files and was up and running in no time

You will want this. I've used cheap adapters in the past had nothing but problems with them. This dock station is the way to go

This is a great product. I've converted a few computers from the old HDD drives to SSD drives and I use this dock whenever I need to access the data from the older drives. This is working perfectly. It is described as plug and play, and I can verify that is true. It works right away for me, no need for drivers. I connected it and it was seen immediately by my computer. This dock is also very versatile. It can hold 3.5 hard drives (HDD) as well as 2.5 drives (SSD). I'm thinking of buying some of the 2.5 SSD's to use with this for storage and back-ups, which will save me the expense of buying enclosures. Comes with a USB-B to USB-A 3.2 cable which is a nice addition. Being hot-swappable is convenient. And this might sound silly, but I like that it has a power button so I can leave it connected to my computer but turn it off when not in use. I really like that feature. This OWC Gemini 36 TB Drive Dock is the perfect solution for archiving my photos. I purchased this unit to replace an older HDD that was slowing down my workflow as it had relatively low read/write speeds. This OWC Dock has super fast read and write speeds (more than double that of my old HDD), and was easy to set up with my Lenovo P16 laptop running Windows 11 Pro. Setup was very straightforward - i.e. once it was powered up and recognized by Windows just click on My PC in File Explorer and then click on the icon for the OWC Drive and select the OWC Setup application for a PC. Steps are similar for a Mac. Then just follow the prompts in the software to format the drives (NTFS for Windows). Note that the default setting is for RAID 0, but it can also be formatted for RAID 1, SPAN, and JBOD. Others have commented that it is noisy, and that is true. But mine is set up in a desk enclosure that is ventilated (the unit also has an internal cooling fan) so the noise is considerably muffled. Overall I am very happy with this purchase. So far it has performed as advertised and has fully met my expectations.

I had an older powered USB3 dock by ANKER that works well with my older SATA HDD drives but my SSD kept undocking by itself. This was a great solution. Happy with the speed and stable connection. This makes me super portable too.

The Xcellon USB 3.2 Gen 1 Hard Drive Dock is the perfect replacement for another dock I had from another brand that never got to properly power larger capacity drives as they will disconnect. Not a good thing when writing data!! This one keeps up, providing enough power and speed consistency. First, I tested transferring several files, one experiment was transferring video only, the other was transferring photos. No issues. Lastly, I cloned one drive to another as a backup, using a M.2 drive (C) (windows) to a HDD docked in this Xcellon. I'd recommend getting two of these, especially useful for cloning internal HDD disks one to another, you know... the ones you keep in the drawer to occasionally access data from them. Easy drive swapping, lots of storage, safely outside your computers, kept new, not wearing and tearing its mechanisms. Keep in mind that, when using regular HDDs, instead of SSDs, it usually starts transferring very fast (see pictures I included) then it drops down like any HDD I've ever used, (internally, externally, docked, or inside a HDD case). This is normal. IMPORTANT!!!!! Always keep the doc's openings covered with either a piece of shipping tape, plastic or gaffer tape so the SATA terminals are as clean as when you first unboxed this product for problem free data transfers. The WD 4TB Elements HDD works well so far as a replacement of the 2TB HDD sitting in a USB3 dock. It's quiet with good I/O speed via USB3.
