Toshiba External Hard Drive 1Tb Problems

I replaced using a 1TB with this 8TB external hard drive for backing up my computer's internal hard drive monthly. The cost of 1TB was 2/3 of the cost of 8TB and now I don't drop off older backups. Easy enough to reformat for an iMac which you will need to do before your first backup. B&H computer reps will guide you through the first time; they are always willing to assist. I wrote the steps down and have done it solo 2X since.

I ordered and am now using a LaCie 1TB Rugged Mini external hard drive for a number of reasons: I need to be able to travel with a reasonable amount of moving image that I can share with my co-editor (also a LaCie user), so the product is not only changing hands, but also has to sustain travel, in various contexts. My first LaCie back-up drive (20 years ago?) has survived all kinds of conditions, and many years of service, so I prefer to rely on brands that have served me well! It is honestly not portable, gone are those early days of bulky, heavy equipment, at least for me! I would buy another LaCie tomorrow if needed.

When I bought my 1TB G-Drive External Hard Drive to store my Lightroom photos, I realized I needed a case for it. I looked at many different cases, but I ended up choosing this one for its small size and hard external skin. My 1TB G-Drive fits perfectly in it with the thunderbolt cable. I carry this in my camera bag along with my camera and lenses. Great product!

I do travel photography, this 1TB LaCie external hard drive is my life source. I’m always super super busy so need something that can make my life a little easier and it does just that. Ide give it 10 stars if I could. Very portable, very easy to use and it can take a lot of abuse.

1st I got a 1TB Toshiba Canvio drive a little more than a year ago. The appeal was the simplicity. I've had other drives and find it annoying to continue updating the software and syncing, etc. so I wanted a simple drive that acts like a regular folder, and that's what the Canvio model does well. Well, as I did more backups I needed more space so I got this 2 TB drive, which works just as well.

This is my third western digital external hard drive. So far they have been good to me, no problems at all. They are fast and reliable. Connection to the drive is strong and holds when moving the laptop around.

I have had this hard drive for approximately 2 weeks and am very pleased with it. For many years I have had a highly recommended external drive that intermittently caused small-large problems. But mostly it was SO noisy. The LaCie drive is so quiet I usually don't even know when it is doing its back ups! It was easy to set up and start using it. Hopefully the efficiency will be combined with a long-lasting drive that doesn't have intermittent problems. I definitely am not anticipating this will be a problem and am glad I made this purchase.
