Toshiba Q300 Pro 1Tb Internal Solid State Drive

I recently got a SanDisk 1TB SSD (Solid State Drive) and used a drive cloning device to clone my old 1TB Hard Disk Drive (HDD) to the new SSD. It works wonders in my 15 year old computer! It really speeds up drive-related activities, perhaps as much as 3 or 4 times faster. I think my old HP laptop computer is either a SATA or SATA II type, so I suspect those with a SATA III system would see even better speed results when going from a HDD to a SSD. Gotta love it!

I purchased this product to move the Windows virtual machine that I run on my MacBook Pro under VMWare Fusion off my internal storage because I was running out of space on the laptop's solid state drive. While I haven't run benchmarks, it appears it to start up and run the Windows apps as fast (or maybe only very slightly slower) than from the Macbook's internal solid state drive. It is an excellent product for this application.

If you are installing an internal Solid State Drive to your desktop computer, you'll need this SATA wire unless you are able to scavenge one off another attached device that you no longer use. It attaches to the back of the SSD (or other SATA device) and to the mother board.

Solid state drive worth it.

1st I got a 1TB Toshiba Canvio drive a little more than a year ago. The appeal was the simplicity. I've had other drives and find it annoying to continue updating the software and syncing, etc. so I wanted a simple drive that acts like a regular folder, and that's what the Canvio model does well. Well, as I did more backups I needed more space so I got this 2 TB drive, which works just as well.

This device makes a solid state drive (SSD) compatible for a Mac Pro. The hard drive slides that come with the computer only mount 3.5 inch drives. This enables you to take advantage of the new SSD's fast speed and reliability. It comes with four mounting screws so that you can mount your SSD (sold separately).

This is my second WD 1 TB drive, and I use them to both store and backup photos from my MacBook Pro (with solid-state storage). Even with lots of RAW files, the transfer rate seems fast. It is small, and easily stored when not in use. There is nothing about this drive that I would change.

This is just what the doctor ordered to accompany my new Mac Pro. It is not as fast as a solid state drive but more than adequate for editing HD or storing video files. I also have a bunch of RAW photos on there as well that are easily and quickly editable in Lightroom.
