Toy Cameras Professional

I do a lot of my “serious” art work with my “Toy Cameras”. I bought this camera to specifically shoot images off a TV/computer screen. I push Ilford film to ASA 6400 and tape a 2 close-up filter to the lenses-It works great!!! I get quite a thrill out of doing “quickie” modifications to all my plastic cameras. I usually have my Advanced students do at least one assignment per semester using plastic cameras. They always seem to particularly enjoy The assignment!

I have been waiting for this capability since I lost the ability to shoot Polaroid proofs on my Hasselblad. I now shoot an EOS 5dsr. It is simply incredible, IF you are a professional and need a professional way to quickly check your results without being confined by a computer (nearly impossible in the field.) There may be those who complain about the speed because they are comparing it to a consumer device toy. The transmission on images in fast on my EOS 5dsr shooting RAW either onto my iPhone Six or iPad. It takes a few seconds to get full resolution and 50 thumbnails appear in a less than a second.) Try that with a Polaroid back. I can quickly check focus, see anything in the shot that I missed (there is always something), see major exposure flaws before i check the histogram, and get a great idea of how to either move on or make a change to the image. But, there was a about a one hour learning curve (how may days did it take you to really master your pro camera so that you stopped interrupting your flow to look for a control?) I have used the remote shooting also and it works fine but I see it as more of a toy than a pro too. For that, I use cord connected Canon dedicated software) The only thing bad I can say is that I pre-ordered mine the minute it was announced (September, I think) and I just received it on February 10th. It was worth the wait!

Fun toy!

I use this, believe it or not, in my toy/lomo cameras. I have a Lubitel 166 B (Russian, not the Lomography one) , and a Holga 120. This film is fantastic in both. It's got great color results, can be pushed to 400 without issue, and tolerates the one aperture , one speed limitation of the Holga well. I get my best results with it during double-exposures.

My primary film cameras fall into the category of toy camera but the results when using pro film like this are amazing. T-Max 100 has never let me down.

I have been loving my new Sony camera but after using Canon cameras with the battery grip for two decades, this camera felt like a toy. This grip is exactly what I needed and its an exceptional quality grip. I couldnt continue shooting without it.

This product is a new toy for me. I have a few cameras but nothing like this. I found it much more easy to handle with a mini mondo stick while only useing the wrist lanyard. Useing the zoom feature, movie and photo buttons were easy but to read info on the screen , with goggles on, was impossible, so it was a case of set and forget. The camera took good photos and movies but I would only use it in this houseing for underwater use. The down side is the houseing needs “sights” to lineup subjects, and the filming light needs to be brighter or bigger or maybe a different colour so it is easier to see .I got about an hour of use from the battery which is OK seeing the camera is continually on and working the zoom. All up, it is a very good unit snorkeling and shallow diving. With more practice this unit will shine in a new world.

I've only shot a few rolls of this film using toy and pinhole cameras, but I've been impressed with the sharpness and tonality. It seems a little grainy when processed in Ilfosol (1:14 mix), but I like the image quality. Overall, this film reminds me a great deal of old-style Tri-X, my favorite film back in the day. I'll definitely be buying more Kentmere soon!

I'll admit I fell into the cult following on these toy cameras and I'm glad I did. It was easy to use, a whole lot of fun, and I came out with some great results. I'd recommend it to anyone just looking for a fun camera to play around with with no specific expectations, etc. Get the pro body out for that.
