Trackball Mouse Macro Buttons

Much prefer the trackball to the mouse. I use an iMac with a 27 screen and the trackball allows me to zip the cursor across the screen quickly with a minimum of effort. Also, the Kensington trackball has four programable buttons which I use to bring up my email or stock portfolio or a preferred application with a simple click of one of the four buttons. Trackball doesn't need cleaning as often as a mouse and when required, is simple to clean.

I've been a trackball user for over 15 years. Most of my day is spent doing graphic design, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. After learning to use a trackball I would never go back to a regular mouse. The efficiency this device provides is unparalleled, programmable buttons make repetitive actions/tasks easy. I actually bought this as a backup as my original Expert Mouse which is going on 7+ years, but still works perfect. Although now with lots of use some of the finish has worn off the buttons, etc. Kensington builds great products, hope they never stop making this mouse. Happy trackball user!

I have been using a trackball for more at least fifteen years (my preference). The 4-button USB Expert Pro Mouse - Trackball by Kensington is there best trackball yet.

I'm at the computer 12 hours/day and I find a trackball much better than a mouse for my hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder. My Logitech Trackball developed floating cursor and I couldn't cure it. I looked at lots of recommendations from friends and relatives, but no one mentioned the Kensington SlimBlade Trackball. I found it on my own, and it is perfect for me. The large ball makes for easy cursor precision. Its simple clean design is very appealing to me. It's the easiest least stressful pointing device I've ever used. (I started out with a CPM machine so some of you will have an idea of how many pointing devices I may have used over the years.)

My 2nd Orbit Trackball. The first lasted MANY MANY years. Made the mistake of buying a cheaper Logitech trackball, that barely lasted ONE year. I really like the big buttons on the Orbit Trackball, & the velocity response (can move cursor both in very small increments, or sweep across the screen quickly). Because I've had a small computer desk (30 wide) for 35yrs, a trackball is necessary. My extended keyboard & trackball fit nicely. A mouse not only requires MUCH more space, I HATE constantly picking up & relocating a mouse to move around the 21 monitor: a waste of time, distracting & frustrating. I never have to look to find where my trackball is! Plug & play simplicity, & easy to clean.

I've used the Kensington Expert Mouse for years now and won't do without it. I recently bought a new iMac with the new Magic Mouse. I did like the scrolling ability of the Magic Mouse but after a week I broke down and bought another Kensington Expert Mouse. It has much more accuracy and stability than the Magic Mouse. Plus, the trackball is easier on my hands and wrist than a traditional mouse. I'm on the computer all day and do everything i can to make my day run smoother. Moving the cursor on the screen is much more intuitive to me with a trackball than with a mouse. The Kensington Expert Mouse does have both horizontal and vertical scrolling. While not as intuitive as the Magic Mouse, it still works.

In a touch screen digital world, switching from Logitech MX Master mouse to Kensington Expert felt like going Back to the Future. I gave myself 7 days to work only on Kensington Expert Mouse. The tactile feedback of a large ball turned out to be extremely satisfying experience. The feature I've used the most on MX Mater, and I thought I would not have on Expert Mouse was a thumb-wheel function, which was setup to switch between the 3 virtual desktop screens I have on my Mac. Quickly I've discovered that the top buttons on the Expert Mouse are perfect replacement for my MX master thumb-wheel. I've also programmed top buttons to run Expose when pressed simultaneously - the feature I used on MX Mater with a thumb button. Now the biggest issue was a middle mouse click.. but it turned out to be as simple as programming two bottom buttons acting as the one, when pressed both at the same time. The big bonus is that if one needs to use buttons to perform different actions, one can do so. Kensington software allows per application button customization. I would consider all mentioned above as pros for this product.. now few if any cons - the scroll ring needs a redesign. At first I thought that I may have a faulty item, but watching couple of videos on the internet, I've found out that that gritty feeling is due to the ring design implementation. It's true.. the grittiness fades with use, but it's still far cry from a silk-smooth operation of MX Master scroll wheels. Minor cons is a somewhat high profile of the Expert Mouse. I have a large hand, so this is no issue for me at all. I'm looking forward to get the Kensington SlimBlade, which in my mind would eliminate high profile and gritty scroll ring. Overall.. if your desk keyboard/mouse space is limited, or you want to discover what you were missing all these years, using regular mouse - trackballs are way to go. Especially if you have a full size keyboard. Excellent product - highly recommended.
