VERY TRANSPARENT! GREAT PROTECTION FROM MILD BREEZES TO SLIGHTLY STRONGER WIND! 5 |

I must admit, the first time I unboxed the instrument, I was amazed at the build quality. It has some heft, the keys are properly and ergonomically placed and you know Akai really took their time to perfect this wind controller. But as a long time saxophone player, the first time I actually played some scales, I was quite disappointed - it didn't feel like a saxophone. I was beginning to regret my purchase and thought about exchanging it for the WX5. So I gave it a few more days. Days turned to weeks, and I am beginning to appreciate this instrument. Keep practicing those scales, breathing with the mouthpiece and you realize how this is such an amazing wind controller. I made a mistake thinking that this is a replacement for a saxophone in an apartment situation. In reality, you should think about how this instrument can be an extension to your musical endeavors. The possibilities you can do with the sounds and playability are endless. There are a few usable synths prebuilt, but I suggest using the Akai EWI 5000 Editor to really play and edit your sounds then save it to the user bank. Also there are synths out there that can be used if you plug the EWI as just a midi wind controller; unfortunately you can't upload other synth sounds into the controller. Definitely give it some time to get used to the instrument especially moving from one octave to another. Keep practicing and you'll appreciate that there's hardly any moving parts here. I was opposed at it first since horns have that tactile and key feedback. But with the touch sensitivity, it really felt I was playing an instrument from the future. Again, you just have to get used to it - think about when mobile phones shift from physical keyboards to the modern phones we have today. And here I am today still keeping my purchase and writing a review. I thank Akai for making a top-notch wind controller and continuing the support for the modern electronic wind musician. 5 |

I'm a metalsmith and studio jeweler and I photograph my own work. I don't do photoshop so I need professional looking backgrounds that give me the highend look I need for jury photos. The first time I bought this background I I didn't think about the mounting and care of it and my cats got up in the photo booth I had set up. It got scratched up pretty bad. I decided to buy one and do a better job of taking care of it. I've mounted (staple gun) the top edge to 3/4 x 2 strip of wood; to the back of that, I made some hanging 'brackets'. I then mounted a smaller strip of wood across the bottom edge as well. Now I use the hanging 'brackets' to hang the background in my photo booth and then I move it to another spot so that it freely hangs against a wall so my cats can't walk across it. It's easy brush off dust with a paint brush and if I accidently make a light mark on it, I can wipe that off with a damp cloth! A lot less expanseive than a fancy photography computer program that's time consuming and difficult to learn. 5 |
Novice but aspiring photographer | 2024-07-03 02:35:36 |
I bought this background for photographing my husband's wood turnings. Though much a novice in the photography arena, I have been extremely pleased with the outcome of the photos I have taken using this background. I still have a little bit of work to do on the lighting aspect, but the background is beautiful. I love the sturdiness of the material and the smoothness of the gradation. I purchased the background based on another user's review (somewhere on the Internet) that specifically noted that they were an experienced photographer . . . and found the Flotone product superior to other manufacturers. I would definitely recommend this item to anyone else looking for a flawless gradated background. 5 |

Very happy with this flash. New to flash (other than pop-ups), so take this with a grain of salt. Shooting with FujiX-H2, I got this very specifically for getting balanced photos of acoustic stringed instruments in strongly backlit situations, high end catalog auslity. Example, a westward facing beach, nice waves, in later afternoon as background. I want instrument well lit without over exposing bright background. Also want sharp highlights of strings and frets. Also am using with studio shots, to add a little extra coverage to key light while using a strong backlight enhancing depth of instrument (in 3/4 shots). Numerous good flashes would no doubt suffice. I bought the V1 based on review images showing evenness of light distribution, great flexibility for bounce, and easy to manipulate controls (once I got the button functions understood). In my testing I have been able to dial in balanced lighting without the image screaming “flash”, which was my objective. Learning the techniques of using a good flash is critical. I have found the V1 to be a great tool on my learning curve. I’m getting the images I was aiming for, and the broad, even coverage of the V1 has worked out great. Picture is from one early test; Backlight 45° from left rear, Key light 45° left front (any more in front made glare on flat surfaces) and a bounce from ceiling with the V1, HSS, manual adjustments to get it just right. 5 |

The blimp helps black out a great deal of wind noise and other unwanted background noise. I use this in conjunction with the Rode NTG2 and H6 Zoom recorder. 5 |

The windscreen is essential to better audio with this microphone. It cuts out a lot of background noise as well as wind noise. I would not use this microphone without this windscreen. The only complaint I have is cost, but if you take care of the windscreen it should last a long time. 5 |

Use it to keep my background support from blowing over in the wind, and it's been great for that. Bag is especially convenient for draping over a leg. 5 |
