Travel Digital Camera Reviews

I was making the move from a digital all-in-one (and phone camera) to a mirrorless camera, and the reviews of this one really got me to look it over. I am so glad that I did! The Micro 4/3rds system makes it so much smaller and more portable than full frame systems, and Canon includes so many helpful ways for a novice to learn while taking pictures with this model. The 'scene' and 'AP' modes start you with presets for taking certain types of photos, and the Info button can be used to toggle on or off a helpful blurb about almost every option. The lens options for this camera are also fantastic. There are so many great lenses out there, and the prices AND size/weight of them is so much more reasonable than larger camera models. The OM-D E-M10 is not for a professional photographer (though the higher end models certainly seem to be) but for someone who aspires to be a more serious hobby photographer, I think it's a GREAT way to launch. 5 |

I purchased this reflector after reading the reviews here and seeing a review in Digital Camera giving the best review among reflectors, so I decided to give it a shot. This was a breeze to pop right out and start shooting with on our first shoot of the year. It made a big difference in our outdoor shoot providing a good amount of light with a great color tone. The only issue we had with this was right in line with many of the other reviews. It is nearly impossible to put it back in the case right the first time. It just takes just a few uses to get used to returning it the right way. It was well worth the purchase and I would do it again in a heartbeat! I am also glad I went for the larger size instead of buying the smaller one and then having to turn right around and purchase this one. 5 |

I purchased this ballhead to support my Phase One 645DF and P40+ digital back for travel. In studio I use the Manfrotto 405 Geared Head, but it is too bulky for travel. The Arca-Swiss Monoball Z1 really surprised me. I had used the CUBE before, but the monoball is simply amazing. It is light and just the right size for my Gitzo Carbon Fiber tripod, the base fits perfectly. It can hold a medium format digital camera with a 300mm lens without the slights worry on my part that it will hold in an position I lock it at.The engineering and finish details are second to none. This head has been copied by so many others, but they will never make theirs as nice and sturdy the Arca-Swiss.Holds a $25,000 camera with no worries. I also use it with a Canon 1Ds MK III, Canon Ef 70-200 f/2.8L IS MK II and an Elinchrom Ringflash mounted via a RRS custom plate; amazing hold at any angle. 5 |

This is a very nice camera bag - not too expensive, well made and perfect for my new digital camera. I like that this model has the adjustable 'walls' for the interior, and it has the extra flap below the top of the bag for extra protection. I was hoping that it would be just a teeny bit smaller, so that I could put the whole bag into my oversized travel purse (for when I travel) but realistically this bag holds everything perfectly, with a comforting amount of protection for my precious gear! 5 |

This my 4th digital. When we travel, I want a small camera that basically does most of what an SLR would do. This one is a bit heavier in weight than some tiny compacts, however, that can be overlooked with all of it's features. It can take a close up macro shot of a ant; zoom in and take a crystal clear shot of a jet skier at dusk. It takes photos inside without flash, clear, realistic light tones. Great little camera - it's manual, aperature priority, shutter priority - plus a multitude of auto settings, makes this perfect small compact camera. If I could change anything, it would only be to make it smaller or lighter. 5 |

We bought this camera to travel with, and to take pictures of theatrical performances. For the theatrical performances the silent mode was a big selling point. Very few other cameras of it's type have that. It may be a bit bigger than We wanted for travel, but We were only buying one camera. It is light weight, and not too large. With the 14-42mm lens it is a smaller profile. With a small prime it would be even more so. The camera has a great amount of flexibility and control. I am relatively new to digital SLR photography, having only owned advanced point and shoots before (I owned film SLR cameras, and printed in darkrooms and the like). I have come to the conclusion in modern digital photography the exposure controls are not just f/stop and shutter speed, but iso. This may seem obvious, but with in camera processing and better sensors higher iso's become practical. The standard lenses you can get with this camera without breaking your bank account too much -go down to about f3.5 or f/4. The high iso and image stabilizing technology allow for hand holding down to very slow shutter speeds (medium focal lengths). There are a lot of special modes that I doubt I'll use, there are many I've yet to sufficiently try out. The manual that comes with it is abridged, the actual one is online, and a deep read indeed. Build quality seems fine. One issue I had is that the serial number wore off. I copied it before it was totally gone. The connectivity of the camera to computers and other computery devices is a little flawed. There is some way to save pictures to something called the Lumix Club. I've yet to make that work. However, it can be made to copy pictures to your phone (as well as easily enough your computer -you will need to load drivers). 5 |

I picked up a used copy from B&H after reading a number of reviews. The camera and lens live up to these reviews in every respect. The camera is small and lightweight yet packed with features. The image quality is good and might match the larger and pricier S1. The kit lens is made of a polycarbonate material that is light and durable. The optics are good and the focal range that starts at 20mm is useful. Panasonic has built an excellent travel kit that is priced so as to leave some money left in the bank for travel. 5 |

I was looking for an upgrade to the focus system of my X-T20. I specifically wanted an interchangeable system that was lightweight for travel photography and the occasional street shot if I didn't bring my Ricoh. I went from the X-T3 to this - and many would think I'm insane to give up some of the wonderful traits of the X-T3! First of all, I'm not a video shooter. I just wanted superb quality images in a lightweight system. No need for all the extras either. Many complaints of the x-t30 center around the small size, the, tripod plate mounting hole being in awkward position and one memory card slot. My X-T20, my first Fuji camera and the one that brought me 50% of my portfolio images, is a similar handling so I was already used to these disadvantages. Secondly, most reviews I read were written by men who complained primarily of the ergonomics of this camera. I looked high and low across multiple forums and across so many YouTube videos and not one female ever wrote a review of this camera that I could see and very few reviews were written by men with small hands. Had there been more reviews written by petite women, I would likely have bought it sooner. Ergonomics aside, this is a great lightweight system that delivers beautiful images. I use the pull out screen for discreet shooting on the streets. It does everything I need and more and my file sizes are not outrageous. If you're into travel or street, this should be a very strong contender on your shopping list. 5 |
