Travel Outlet Extender

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Perfect for travel when there’s annoyingly one outlet but you have two devices. This worked perfectly to charge my watch and phone for the next day. It’s small and light weight, neutral color, and I like that the prongs fold in when not plugged into an outlet.

I travel through Europe a month at a time. So space and weight are at a premium. This extender takes the place of (a lot of) additional gear. I carry 2 lenses - 1.Canon 85MM f1.2 L II for low light, museums, portraits 2. Canon 70-200 f 2.8 L USM for everything else. So adding the extender (I really only use it on the zoom) takes me places I wasn't getting. Now I have a 140-400 zoom without having to add another lens. The extender takes you down a couple of f stops but if you're outside, it's not going to really matter. Only drawback (minor)it does not have a hard case for a hard traveler - but that's just means being careful with your equipment. Worth the $'s. Clicks in nicely, seems pretty weather-proof and disassembles easily.

I have been testing this tripod for about a month now, and it has been excellent! There has been a gap in the tripod industry for a while; one would have to choose between a tiny table tripod (which is light, but only 12 tall at the most) or a travel tripod (which is standard height, but often weighs 3lbs or more). This tripod fills that gap. On my scale, the tripod with ball head and extender column comes out to 1.27lbs, AND the tripod is able to reach a height of 52.4 with the extender column. Pros: The ball head is super sturdy and works with full-sized arca-swiss plates. As a table tripod, it is tall enough that you're not looking down at the camera. The legs are perfect for use on a gimbal! As a travel/backpacking tripod, it is light enough that you don't have to debate about whether or not it's worth carrying a tripod. The height with the extender column makes it usable as a floor-standing tripod. The load capacity is high enough to handle some of the largest DSLRs on the market. Rock-solid when used without the center column. Cons: The tripod does have some wobble once the extender column is added, especially when used with heavier loads, so you may have to give the tripod a few seconds to stabilize after hitting the record button when shooting video or use a fast enough shutter speed to not get motion blur in photos. The legs will not collapse over the center column like some of the larger travel tripods out there, so you're folded length with be doubled if you keep the center column attached. I have yet to travel with this bag, which is the main reason for purchasing it, but I believe it will be the answer. I have used it a few times to load up 2-5Ds, a 24-70mm, 70-200mm, 16-35mm, 50mm, extender,600EX flash, batteries, chargers, computer, a few accessories and still, there is some space left. The bag is well made and comes with all of the dividers one should ever need. a Few have a center-mounted flap so that 2 smaller items can be stacked one on top of the other (my 50mm and extender). The TSA combination lock is a nice feature, the zippers look durable and work easily and the outside storage pocket on the side of the bag at the top will be handy for many small things. I will not be traveling with all of this equipment as I just experimented with what I could fit comfortably into the bag if necessary. This review will be updated after next months trip.

I use it for some wildlife pics with a 1.4 x Extender. Performs well and still easy to carry / travel. I would recommend it above the 100-400 or the 400 5.6 L. First I thought about the 300 2.8 as well but I do not like to do workout by carring it all day long.

Light weight and easy to use. Fun for travel, birding and wildlife. Works very well with a 1.4x extender and with the 2.0x extender good shots a 600mm manuel focus. It's a dream!

Ordering and Shipping - B&H Photo shipped the product on time and it arrive undamaged and well protected in the box. Product - The Eve Energy Outlet arrived in new condition in unopened retail packaging. The package includes the outlet, faceplate, and wire nuts for installation. Installation - You will need a neutral wire in order to successfully install the Eve Energy Outlet. The device itself is thicker than a regular outlet, so a shallow electrical box won't work. A regular or deep electrical box is best. Follow the included instructions and you should not have any problems. Setup - After the Eve Energy Outlet is installed and power has been turned back on, the device can be paired in the normal way for your home automation system. I'm using Apple Home, and the pairing through the Apple Home app is as simple as taking a picture of the pairing QR code. The device is initially created as a group of two outlets in Apple Home. Turning the device on / off changes the state of both outlets. You will need to ungroup the device in Apple Home if you want to control each outlet individually. The buttons on the front can also be used to manually turn the outlets on / off. They are somewhat small and will be very difficult to press when both outlets have something plugged into them. The Eve Energy Outlet responds very quickly to requests in the Apple Home app to turn the individual outllets on / off. It has never dropped out of the Apple Home system, and it reconnects quickly after power outages. Speaking of power outages, each plug in the outlet will return to its prior on/off state after a power interruption. Overall - This is an excellent smart outlet with solid build quality, quick response times, and a straightforward / easy installation process.
