My son wanted a GOOD pair of binoculars. He's outside in wildlife management, summer and winter, spring and fall. I did a lot of research and found one site that compared these binocs with four other pairs that ranged in price between $2,200 and $2,700... You know- Zeiss, Leica, Swarovski... ...the heavy hitters in the field. The overall ratings on those binocs was from 99 down to 93, and these Vortex Vipers came in at 92 points overall. That's 9's and 10's on six ratings like clarity, field of view, comfort, brightness... and an 8 on close field of view- the same as the expensive models. At that point for me it was a no-brainer. Yes, if you can't spend $600 I understand- but I'm retired, money to spare, and what a great gift to give my son. A pair of binoculars he'll use his entire life, and hopefully think of me. I even bought myself a pair. 5 |
