Ultrasonic Sailboat Wind Instrument

I have a sailboat and if I want you shoot some video with my camera there is always some, or a lot, of wind noise. It's no longer sailing season, but I checked out this external mic on a windy day. It worked very nicely! I'm glad I purchased it from B&H Photo. : - ) 5 |

This will be used on our sailboat. Thrilled with the clarity and value of the product! 5 |

I must admit, the first time I unboxed the instrument, I was amazed at the build quality. It has some heft, the keys are properly and ergonomically placed and you know Akai really took their time to perfect this wind controller. But as a long time saxophone player, the first time I actually played some scales, I was quite disappointed - it didn't feel like a saxophone. I was beginning to regret my purchase and thought about exchanging it for the WX5. So I gave it a few more days. Days turned to weeks, and I am beginning to appreciate this instrument. Keep practicing those scales, breathing with the mouthpiece and you realize how this is such an amazing wind controller. I made a mistake thinking that this is a replacement for a saxophone in an apartment situation. In reality, you should think about how this instrument can be an extension to your musical endeavors. The possibilities you can do with the sounds and playability are endless. There are a few usable synths prebuilt, but I suggest using the Akai EWI 5000 Editor to really play and edit your sounds then save it to the user bank. Also there are synths out there that can be used if you plug the EWI as just a midi wind controller; unfortunately you can't upload other synth sounds into the controller. Definitely give it some time to get used to the instrument especially moving from one octave to another. Keep practicing and you'll appreciate that there's hardly any moving parts here. I was opposed at it first since horns have that tactile and key feedback. But with the touch sensitivity, it really felt I was playing an instrument from the future. Again, you just have to get used to it - think about when mobile phones shift from physical keyboards to the modern phones we have today. And here I am today still keeping my purchase and writing a review. I thank Akai for making a top-notch wind controller and continuing the support for the modern electronic wind musician. 5 |

This lens is worth its weight in gold. The ultrasonic motor for the focus was such an amazing feature that I kept having to check to make sure it was actually focusing. The macro feature kind of surprised me and blew me away 5 |

These filters came with my canon 28-70mm ultrasonic II lens purchase. Great pieces of equipment, I keep the UV filter on regularly as I do a lot of animal photography and don't want to ruin my lens with dog drool. They clean off great! Really nice quality filters. If they didn't come with my purchase I would have bought them anyway. 5 |

I have just imagined pushing the shutter of my D5 with this lens attached. 447 FPS and ultrasonic smooth AF with a bokeh that made me...question what my eyes were beholding. Then I finally woke up and realized it was all a dream and I still only owned a D60 with a kit lens 5 |

This is a well built and great replacement for the original lens cap. Although it doesn't say ultrasonic, it perfectly replaces the lost lens cap for my 100mm Macro. Its actually much easier to grip than the original, especially when the lens hood is attached. I wouldn't necessarily replace the original with this unless it was lost or misplaced, but it is better than the original. 5 |

I got a very nice example of this lens. Very sharp in the center wide open. It's still not sharp in the corners at f11, but that's only the very corners. What I didn't expect was the ability to focus so close. This is a nice slightly-wide-angle macro lens, just not corrected for macro distances. It's not an ultrasonic motor, so it's not quiet, but it seems no louder than most non-ultrasonic motors. 5 |
