Yes these are great Hard Portable Drives, and Western Digital owns the Market in size, performance, quality, and reliability. However, the Weather, or the Atmospheric Temperature surrounding the Drive is a serious factor, because it the Weather is too Hot, the Drive will Shut-Down. And while this is a Disappointing Fact, I would tell you to invest in Air-Conditioning, because this is the only limitation. 5 |

I haven't used this under the stars due to lousy weather here in western NY state (snow three straight days! In mid-April!). But I have mounted my equipment: Nikon d5300 w/kit lens; Newer ballhead; move-shoot-move tracker; Skywatcher equatorial wedge. The setup is steady as a rock. When dealing with astrophotography I have read that tripods should be loaded to about two-thirds capacity. This tripod is rated for 30 pounds, so 18-20 pounds should work. I'm not worried about loading it with my SV60D, but I don't see me trying my SV90T with an Ioptron or Skywatcher tracker. Maybe an 80mm or 72mm. We'll see. 5 |

We were looking for a new travel size binoculars as we cruise Transatlantic & Transpacific. Our marine binoculars from West Marine were great while boating but are heavy and take up took much carry on space. The guy behind the counter was fantastic, not pushy or rushing us to make a decision. He showed us various magnifications/sizes and describing the differences with each one. We chose the Vortex 8x42 Viper HD because they ticked most all of the boxes we were looking for at the price that didn't break the bank.
