Underground Weather Oregon Coast Range

I live right on the ocean on the Central Coast Oregon where it rains almost every day of the year and there are giant waves and tons of saltwater spray. (Of course that's where the great seascape photos are!) This Lens Coat Rain Coat Pro covers my Nikon D4 and the entire Nikkor 600mm lens with room to spare. I can get both hands into the rain coat and operate all the controls on both the camera and the lens. It's well constructed and keeps the rain and salt water off my equipment. 5 |

Received the lens just in time for a trip to the Oregon Coast. I had read some reviews on focus problems so I shot some landscape shots and downloaded to my iPad to check for camera shake or focus problems. I was very pleased with all of the shots that ranged from the zoom length of 70 to 300. Very pleased with this lens and recommend it. 5 |

You can tell this is a a quality lens as soon as it comes out of the package. The details are there, and well constructed. I took it out in west coast weather, and northern exposures and it was not an issue at all. Expensive but the value is there. I recommend this lens to anyone interested is landscapes or Astro. 5 |

Coast headlamps are the best. They are very bright. They are made to work in all weather conditions, rain storms, winter snow storms and the hot summers. Coast lights will last for years in these conditions. Coast also stands behind their products 100% no questions asked!!! 5 |

I have quite a few Coast headlamps (lightweight fixed focus alkaline, rechargeable and focusable LiPo, red/white LEDs), but the XPH34R is in a class by itself. It is without a doubt the most versatile and rugged headlamp Coast makes. All metal construction, weather resistant, super bright, focusable, and rechargeable. If you need a handheld light when you’re wearing it, you just snap it out of its mount and use it that way. It also has a strong, magnetic base which is very helpful and it is built like a tank. The run time is awesome and it recharges quickly. Also, it uses USB-C. I wish more manufacturers would adopt this standard. The supplied accessories are great too. A silicon strap is supplied for using with a hard hat in addition to the usual fabric one so it doesn’t slip. Coast also provides clips for your hardhat to secure the light. These accessories are really nice because, due to its all metal construction and good battery life, it is one of the heavier headlamps in Coast’s lineup. They thought about that, so the fabric strap also has an adjustable band that goes over the top of your head in addition to the usual one that goes around your head. This is a really nice touch and it keeps the headlamp securely in place. I can confidently say that this is my go-to headlamp now because it is so versatile. There will always be a place for my other Coast headlamps, but If I want something that will stand up to a maximum level of abuse and keep functioning in all weather conditions, I’ll be reaching for the XPH34R. 5 |

I usually pack a bunch of gear with me out camping and sometimes the weather gets really rough on the coast so this helps protect all my cameras and laptop 5 |

This should be the standard kit lens. It's small for its range, light, and makes great pictures. Dual stabilization on stabilized Panasonic bodies means I get clean images at low ISO, that I totally did not expect to get. The weather sealing has worked in all kinds of weather. Mounted on a GX85, it feels good in the hand. It is the one, go-anywhere-prepared lens in the Lumix range. I cannot complain about the price, even. Other system's wide range zooms are either modest performers, or heavy and expensive to get good performance. This lens does well, and you pay for it. If it weren't for this lens I would have ditched Micro Four Thirds (or any mirrorless system) already, just from being tired of lens changes. It very nearly replaces the kit 12-32, 40-150 lenses for the GX85 kit, so you can stop changing lenses so much. I honestly don't understand why some other zoom lenses in the Lumix range even exist, with this one being so good. Cons are pretty obvious- You may choose to swap it for an ultrawide sometimes. 14mm is not wide enough for lots of travel or nature situations. Small for its range, it's still not a small lens. In my dreams, it would retract like the 12-32, so it would be far easier to carry. Works best with an add-on hand grip for a rangefinder body. This lets you carry it in hand and still relax your grip a bit. The hood helps a lot when shooting into sunlit water, but the lens does loose contrast in that scenario, where strong light is coming from multiple directions. Not bright enough for low light shots without motion blur, without boosting ISO. 5 |
