Underwater Camera With External Flash

This is my first experience with an underwater camera. I am glad I chose SeaLife. Oh I got the camera in the mail the morning that I left for about an hour and played around with the various controls while I was on the airplane. This camera is incredibly user-friendly and takes terrific pictures. Most of my diving on this trip was between 30 and 60 feet. Using the "Dive" mode, the automatic filtering system for correct in the colors worked remarkably well. In fact, when I used an external light in dive mode, the pictures were not as good. (There is a separate mode for "external light.") I highly recommend this camera, especially if you are a novice like me. 5 |

This is a great addition for my TG-5 Camera. It allows for more light to give my macro shots greater background detail. This Macro Ring should not be confused with the FD-1 Flash Diffuser. They function very differently. This Ring uses the built in LED of the camera to add additional lumination to your image. The FD-1 uses the built in Flash for additional illumination. The difference bewtween them is the Macro Ring allows for more detail in the surrounding area of your primary image while the FD-2 illuminates the entire area gving less background details. If you like to experiment with Macro Photography with your TG-4 or TG-5 I suggest you get both. A last point, the LG-1 Macro Ring is not meant for underwater photography but the FD-2 is. Here is a direct statement from Olympus: "Please Note: Although the LG-1 can be left on the camera when underwater, it is not recommended as an underwater lighting accessory as the results would not be desirable. The FD-1 may also be used underwater" 5 |

very impressed with this flash, my first try at an external flash and it was so self explanatory and very easy to use. The flash dialed right into my camera. 5 |

I took shots at dark. The camera saw what I could not. It is going to be quite useful in my underwater adventures. 5 |

I mainly purchased this to move my external flash unit from the top of the camera. My flash does not have the ability to swivel (just tilts up and down), so with this bracket I can offset the flash unit and reduce/eliminate red eye on close portraits. 5 |

I use the light stand when I want my external flash off my camera allowing me to position the flash higher then the camera. Or the stand/flash can stand a couple feet to the left or right of the camera. A sandbag is highly recommended to secure the stand. I am aware that the light stand that I have is inexpensive and not very sturdy. For now I don't expect to do a lot of off camera flash photography so this stand will work for me. There are plenty of sturdy and expensive stands in the market so depending on what you want spend wisely. 5 |
