Underwater Remote Camera Reviews

Having read some reviews... about the tight fit at the camera remote socket connection, before connecting to the camera, I simply eased the outer chrome sleeve back and forth a few times until it slid freely. The fit was then snug but did not get stuck and was easy to remove. Otherwise, the cable is soft, flexible and tangle free. It works as well as expected and has proved useful for self-portrait and a way of directing a model and photographing a scene without being stuck behind the camera - an unexpected plus.

I took shots at dark. The camera saw what I could not. It is going to be quite useful in my underwater adventures.

I almost never give five star reviews but this is absolute must-have I think for any gopro user. This remote keeps you from wondering if your camera is on when it’s mounted on your head, or anywhere you can’t tell if it’s recording. Before this, I would be fishing mindlessly and forgetting if my camera was running or not and I would miss footage. This has made my life so easy and helped my YouTube page tremendously. The same goes for snowboarding. Also, I have never ran into any usage issues whatsoever with the remote.

I read some bad reviews on this device but after using it I have to disagree with most of the negative things I read. This is not a long distance remote, it is not a programmable remote, what it is supposed to do is trigger the shutter when you are somewhere in front of the camera body at a reasonable distance. This it does just fine. I agree it is so small you have to take care where you put it so you don't lose it, but the pouch that comes with it fits right on my camera strap, so problem solved. I love the compact size and raised nub for triggering the shutter. it works great and is very convenient especially for shooting still life, macro etc when you are in front of or beside the camera.

I’ve read on blogs and reviews that you don’t need the remote, it’s a waste of money. I’m just going to say this, that’s bogus! You can monitor the battery life of your GoPro and it has a timer to see how long you have been recording plus your not creating camera shake touching the camera. Those are all important things to me and worth the money spent. Glad I made the purchase.

Hi, With a new camera comes new gizmos to make your pics best ever.I was looking for for a remote to help me in my macro photography and went on the web to good reviews and found it on the B&H site.It was compatible with my Canon 7D Mark II:the reviews and the video helped me a lot to finally buy the Vello one.It is the second product from Vello I buy and satisfied with the price vs quality. Thanks to B&H for having this kind of product. Note:this is my second review of that product following some difficulty with the shipping but finally I received it!

I normally don't write reviews, but this product absolutely breaks with that tradition. I use a Tamron 18 - 400 MM Zoom lens on my Canon Rebel T-7. It's a pretty heavy lens and when I have it out to the 400 mm position, it's very long. I normally use a tripod and was experiencing a lot of camera shake when I would engage the shutter release. This was too bad because a lot of otherwise very nice exposures were out of focus and blurred. The folks at B&H told me about the Vello Freewave Remote. This device works like a charm. It even auto-focuses the lens before releasing the shutter. I'm not a very sophisticated photographer, but I enjoy getting outdoors and shooting landscapes and birds. Operating the Vello is tremendously easy and effective. For the price, everyone should have one in their camera bag. B&H knew what they were talking about when they sold me the Vello Remote Release. You can't go wrong with this item.

After reading reviews of third party and homemade remote switches that didn't work or, in some cases, damaged Canon cameras, I decided to go with the Canon remote made specifically for my camera and similar models. The price point for this quality item is right on. It's small but easy to handle and the half-depressed button function is exactly like the regular shutter button on the camera itself. I've used it with the viewfinder as well as the live view function without any problems. Most of my photos using it have been on a tripod and using a macro lens (the obvious reason for using a remote switch). If your camera allows mirror lockup like my EOS 70, this remote allows the absolutely sharpest pictures possible. Love it!
