SSD's make a laptop with a hard drive appear much faster. Some desktops and laptops are fitted with an M.2 SSD that is too small to be practical. Since SSD prices have come down so much over the years, upgrades are economical. When upgrading a laptop, you clone the existing drive onto the new M.2 SSD inserted in this enclosure and swap the two. Or you add the new M.2 SSD into a previously unoccupied slot. This enclosure makes it possible. And in the rare case the drive cloning did not succeed, nothing is lost. An essential part of your computer toolkit. 5 |

I have a recent Dell laptop that uses M.2 2230 SSD. The factory installed SSD didn't perform very well and didn't have the very good specifications for its price. I looked at the Sabrent Rocket 2230 and liked the much-improved specifications. It was worth the price. The laptop is noticeably faster in operation and seems to be more stable than it was with the factory SSD. I'd recommend the Sabrent to anyone looking to improve the performance of their device with a 2230 form factor SSD. 5 |

This is a good, no frills laptop. Dosen't come with a ton of storage, but it has ports for an M.2 and a SSD, which I've already utilized to add 2TB of storage. Plays high res games no issue 5 |

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Samsung’s 980 Pro is a PCIe 4 M.2 NVMe SSD. This is a high-end product; this is the fastest flash-based SSD I can purchase. From specification, the sequential read and write speed are 6900 Mbps / 5000 Mpbs. Though this quoted performance from Samsung is very exciting,, you will need a system which has PCIe 4 to reach this number. The installation is simple; you will a motherboard or laptop with a capable NVMe supported M.2 slot. You can need to remove laptop back cover; you will need to be careful about that. Samsung has also highlighted Intelligent TurboWrite 2.0 technology which delivers 5 times the buffer size. That means under large workload will not decline the performance. This SSD is also built-in advanced thermal control solutions allow for the drive to perform well at cool temperatures. It is important for me, and I plan to use this SSD to build my AI training server system. Overall, this SSD is fastest SSD I can find from the market, and it has all-new Elpis controller, backwards-compatibility with PCIe 3.0, and NVMe 1.3 support. It is target for gaming user, but, it is also good for my AI training server. 5 |

I have a top of the line gaming laptop it had two m.2 ssd's and a one TB mechanical hdd and after having it a while I needed more room. I have never had any issues with the Samsung product line so I bought this SSD and wow my computer runs like new again and with two terabytes of disk space it has room again. Thanks to Samsung for such a great product and the price was great to. 5 |

Powerful laptop with the latest top mobile CPU and second from the top GPU that Intel and nVidia have to offer in mid-2024, it has operated well for me over the last month that I have owned it. Today I upgraded it by adding a 2TB Samsung 990 NVME M.2 SSD into the "SSD2" location on the ASUS MB and it initialized and formatted flawlessly in Windows 11. So I now enjoy a total of 3TB storage, with the original 1TB Hynix M.2 SSD acting as the boot drive (drive 0; "C" drive) and the new drive as secondary storage (drive 1; "D" drive). With the 32GB of DDR5 SODIMM RAM this laptop far exceeds the performance benchmarks of my 9-year-old Skylake desktop in capabilities; except the ability to run cool and silent. I've noted that the CPU temperature does max out under heavy gaming, but it hasn't noticeably affected gameplay [ESO only]. Alas, in my limited experience with laptops, they just never seem to handle peak loads without hitting thermal limits on the CPU. I may have to invest in one of those cooling devices I've seen that support the laptop and dissipate some of the heat produced; but I probably won't do it unless I actually see a problem or get tired of the fans spinning up to top speed (they can be loud, but headphones help). One or two performance cores have hit 100 C [using hwmonitor] max. So far I have no complaints. 5 |
