I am using this filter on a Canon 70-300L lens. Pictures are sharp. It will stay on this lens.

I have just bought my 28-300L and I think I'll will never find a better lens like this one. It is totally awesome, perfect match for my 7D. The image quality is superv. The autofocus is really-really-FAST. I was a little dissapointed using it at high ISO... it doesn't look too sharp as I expected to be an L lense of this price tag, but I will keep trying (maybe with a tripod.. I've just tried shooting handheld). For video it's a little difficult to handle the manual focus compared with other lenses (while handheld) but is not a big issue. The weight... well.. it's litterally like a bazooka, but you will get used to it. This lens worth every cent. You have all the range covered with the outstanding ¨red ring¨ quality. (I will just add my superwhide angle for some special moments). ¨...Be prepared to some: "whoa!" when you get the camera out of your bag.¨ I totally agree that previous comment.

Recommend future models be able to turn the monitor upright.

I use the 28-300L indoors and outdoors, lot's of action and am pleased with the lens. Wish I would of bought it sooner. It is a little heavy but you get use to it.

This Canon 300L lens has excellent image quality. I have a 70-200 2.8L IS which is much heavier and does not have the image quality of this prime lens. In the future I will buy only prime Canon L lenses, this being the first in my transition from Canon Zoom to Canon Prime.

I use this mainly for protection on a Canon EF 70-300L. No noticeable artifacts or degradation in image quality from using it and the canon lens cap attaches firmly to the filter (unlike some of the thin filters that won't accept a standard lens cap).

I put off purchasing this lens for over a year. Read a bunch of reviews in that time, most good, some mixed. B&H had one of their fantastic deals and I just couldn't pass it up. I enjoy photographing birds both backyard and in the wild. For the last two years I've been using a Canon 70-300L lens for this purpose but wanted more reach. I couldn't be happier with this lens, especially at the price point. It worked very well right out of the box on my Canon 5D lll. Focusing is fast and pretty darn accurate. It cuts through branches and obstacles well without too much focus drift or hunting. If you're in need of telephoto or zoom for birds or wildlife and can't afford to spend thousands this lens is for you. I am getting very acceptable, sharp results all the way out to the 600mm mark, in fact this surprised me a little as I had read reviews that suggested the lens was a little soft at maximum, a common flaw in many lenses. As with most lenses, stepping to about f8 increases clarity but I don't personally photograph wildlife with a zoom at much lower stops for depth of field reasons and details of the animal. The lens has some weight, yes, but I do not find it to be much more cumbersome than my Canon 70-300L. I am using this lens handheld for most of my images and I'm man enough to admit that I don't have a lot of upper body strength. No problems with handling but be careful in high winds! All in all, thrilled with the lens. If you're considering it don't wait. I'm specifically attaching the image of the sparrow because it is literally the first photo I took with this lens, on a dark, overcast day, not good conditions...and the lens worked great! The image of the Hawk is a week later, better light.
