I got mine a week ago. After I had ordered I had a few questions before it got here about its interface with the 80D. While I was waiting for delivery I asked several questions on the B&H Q&A about the interface and didn't get a completely knowledgeable answer. I also asked questions of Canon Tech Support, Customer Service, and Parts Department. It's amazing that among 5 different people at Canon (1 in Customer Service, 3 in Tech Support, and 1 in the Parts Department) none of them could answer my question about the USB interface with my EOS 80D. BOTTOM LINE: The GP-E2 can directly interface with the camera either with the camera hot shoe or with either of the included USB cables (short one 10 for GP-E2 on a flash bracket or long one 4' with GP-E2 on your belt). The cables have a standard mini-Type B connector on the camera end and a Canon proprietary USB connector (coded white) on the GP-E2 end. Works great. Too bad the support people at Canon don't have a clue. See my photo of the 10 cable. You can see the white plastic component on the GP-E2 end of the cable. Once I upgraded my EOS 50D camera to the EOS 80D, I discovered that the quick lock plug on my Canon TC-80N3 Timer/Remote controller is not compatible with the remote mini plug input on my new EOS 80D camera. The Canon RA-E3 Remote Controller Adapter solved the problem. This adapter cable also works for the EOS 60D EOS 70D and some EOS Rebel cameras. 5 |
