Usb Ethernet Wifi Lan Wireless Ap Adapter

I purchased this to increase the WiFi coverage in my house. I was considering purchasing 2, but started with 1 just to see the coverage. Overall, I get about 25% better signal at each end of the house with this set up in the center so an improvement over the WiFi router my ISP provides. I have basic networking experience and the software was a breeze to setup. I really think anyone could do it, but give yourself a good 15 mins to click around and understand their web interface. I simply plugged an ethernet cable into my existing WiFi router, then into the PoE adapter that came with the AP. Then just ran a second ethernet cable from the PoE adapter to the AP. Mounted it on a wall with their hardware and was done, took less than 5 min total.

Not much to say, it's a USB to Ethernet adapter. Works exactly like you would want it to.

This is the simple but versatile device that I recommend as a router for all my friends and family, and will also use as an access point for them or small businesses where integrated solutions are too complex for a handful of users. Qualcomm Atheros chipset, with 350 Mbps WAN To LAN capability routing. Firmware has stabilized and now I am able to fully recommend (January 2021), albeit feature set is still lacking compared to AirRouter predecessor, but offers core abilities for baseline users. For the airCube, plug the ethernet from the modem into the WAN (eth0), then you may connect your computer via wireless or ethernet to the LAN ports (PoE In, 2, or 3), typing in https://192.168.1.1 in your web browser, with ubnt as username, and password printed on the label beneath. Most people are now aware and desiring to minimize wireless radiation, so I recommend them to turn off the 5 Ghz wireless, and configure the 2.4 Ghz for 20 MHz Channel Width, select channel 1, 6, or 11, while starting with 5 dBm output power (transmit power is logarithmic, so 5 dBm is 3mW, wile 20 dBm is 100 mW), and choose the SSID Name and Password. Look for a signal strength of -80 dBm or better (-55 to -60 dBm ideal) is recommended for stable links, and increase the output power until that range is achieved for desired places. Obviously, line of sight and height is appreciated for more effective communication. Increasing the Tx power on any wireless device will create a noise for other wireless devices. The rest you could choose to remain as default or configure more.

I was a bit worried because we have such old wireless equipment on our LAN, but the adapter installed and worked with no problems.

The U6 LR is preforming (wireless experience) better than the UAP AP Pro I was using. WIFI MAN testing (same settings) roaming, signal. throughput, and latency all appear better with the U6. After configuration to channel band width 180 their was higher connection speeds, lower latency, and better signal strength at the same client locations I tested. I would recommend switching to WIFI 6 if some of your devices support it. Upgrading to WIFI 6 may not be for you if you are not actively upgrading clients and/or AP's. I would strongly consider WIFI 6 for new install. Site 1800sq feet single fam dwelling, one story, 3 bed, 2 bath. Well covered indoor by 1 U6. 8 clients 2.4, 5, 6 balanced WIFI band steering. I got this to replace all of our wireless needs. I disabled wireless on our router and use this AP as our only source of wifi. The software is so amazing. We get better range and speeds in our home. Going to get the Ubiquiti USG and switch later.

I am familiar with Unifi wireless using it at several different locations. That AC LR was used in a small business which had a Comcast Provided 2.4g AP as an independent device on the business network. The owner mentioned that he did not think his Wifi was working that swell and mentioned having to repower it on occasion. As part of a Unifi Surveillance install I replaced his Comcast AP. After a month owner says his Wifi issues are solved.

My wifi speed for this AP is currently limited by my powerline network adapter. But this is handeling my full gig internet over wifi when not on the powerline adapter. The ring light on this is a tad brighter than my last unifi AP though. I don't think I can turn that down.
