I use this adapter to connect an external hard drive to my Samsung Galaxy Tab S. Tablets only have mini usb ports. To use an external or any other device that uses a usb port, you'll need this adaptor. The USB 3.0 to 2.5" SATA III Hard Drive adapter cable w/UASP - SATA to USB 3.0 Converter for SSD / HDD works with my Windows laptop but it seemed like I needed a USB 3.0 port to provide enough power because when plugged into a USB 2.0 it would not light up. With Macbooks and iMacs going mostly to USB-C inputs, this A to C adapter is a must-have. Many external hard drives and card readers are USB-C only now as well, but I still own products that are USB-A, and a brand-new Western Digital external hard drive today is USB-A, so to hook it up to a MacBook, you have got to have the adapter or replace the cable. I keep this C to A adapter in my laptop bag always. 5 |
