I used to have a usb hub, the laptop charger and a monitor. The new monitor with a single usb-c cable both charges my mac and allows for the monitor connection. The usb hub is there in case i need to connect a usb key or something extra. If it also had a camera and mike built in it would be amazing (i got the camera separately). I'm very happy with it.

I have a Mac mini so I needed a usb camera if I wanted people to see me on those Zoom calls. Dirt simple, just plug into an available USB port. The fact that you can unclip it from the monitor and point it around is useful and fun--something the built in cameras on a laptop can't do. Excellent price point. Did not test the microphone as I use a separate higher end usb mic.

Got this for my imac, since the monitor I use with it doesn't have a camera. I was worried that there might be a problem using it with a mac, but not at all: I plugged it in to a USB-A port and it was recognized immediately. The picture is just fine for Zoom calls and such.

It worked with my iMac. My 2014 Mac has a usb 3.0 bus which the Avaya says it prefers over a 2.0 for full powering. There is no Avaya app; you don't need one because the included remote control does all the zooming and panning. 3rd party Zoom teleconference application software saw it as a camera and a mic. Easy peasy. So ignore all the stuff about checking for a firmware update and needing Windows to do that! I have not tried the Avaya as a HDMI input on my BMD Atem mini yet. I don't really need it for that. I needed it to replace the poor built in camera in my older Mac.

While it can be used for any USB-C to USB-C purpose, /I happen to use it to offload images from my Nikon Z6 camera to my Mac without having to use a card reader. Works perfectly.
