Use 27 Imac As Monitor For Mac Studio

My 27 2017 iMac needed replacing. Apple no longer makes a 27 iMac so I purchased the new M1 Mac Studio. That meant I needed a new monitor as well. I almost ordered the Mac 27 studio monitor. You know, the same 5K monitor that was on my old iMac. But then I started my research and discovered EIZO had started making a more moderately priced 27 display. For only around $100 or so more money than the Apple screen I now have an incredible, color accurate, 4K EIZO ColorEdge CS2740. I have no regrets at all. It was plug and play from the start. I did a manual calibration with my iStudio gear and marvel at the accuracy. I don't miss the 5K slick screen at all. I bought this monitor because I'm a photographer and color accuracy is important. One caveat; if you need a built in camera and speakers go elsewhere. EIZO is known for color accuracy not Zoom meetings. I have an old Bose computer speaker system that still works and it plugged right in to the Mac Studio. If you need the best color rendition you can get for under $2000, this monitor is a great choice.

It was time to replace my 6 year old iMac 27. I kept waiting for a new 27" iMac to be released but it appears that Apple has decided to not make them any longer, instead moving towards Mac Studios. I decided that I just needed to accept that and ordered a new Mac Studio M2 MAX from the Apple Store. Not a review but BH Photo had the Apple Studio Display for $150 less than the Apple Store and using my PayBoo Card I saved on the sales tax, so my savings were over $200.00. I think I made the right decision. This display is fantastic. Bright, sharp, superb 5K Resolution. It's slightly smaller overall the my old iMac (due to not having the computer inside). Exceptional accuracy without any calibration! The sound is also impressive, with its Six-speaker system with force-cancelling woofers, so good that I disconnected my old HK SoundSticks/Sub Woofer. The three-mic array is Studio Quality. My home office lighting is very neutral so I didn't need to go for the Nano Glass upgrade, The standard glass is already engineered for extremely low reflectivity. As for the Stand, the Standard Tilt only stand was fine for my needs and it's absurd what Apple want to charge for their Tilt and Height Adjustable Stand. Overall this Apple Studio Display is a major improvement over my aging 27" iMac Retina. Worth a bit of what a spent!!!

I switched to a Mac Studio recently after spending the last 10 years editing video on iMac, and this monitor holds up incredibly well. No, it is not a 5K Retina display. However, it is about $1,000 less expensive than an Apple Display, and after using it for two weeks, I'm not noticing any major differences. The color and the resolution are high quality and very suitable for editing 4K video. This monitor also connects directly to the Mac Studio through a USB-C, and it started right up the first time. (I had read reviews that firmware needed to be updated on the monitor to use the USB-C connection, but I didn't not experience this). The 31.5 display is also a nice upgrade over the 27 iMac - that extra bit of real estate is always welcome. It takes up about the same amount of space on my desk as the iMac did. The matte screen is also great. The Retina Displays were too glossy with too many reflections, whereas this monitor minimizes and soften reflections. I'm very happy with this purchase, and if you're looking for a cost-effective alternative to an Apple Display, I would recommend the Dell Ultrasharp 31.5 4K HDR Monitor.

Bought the 6-core Mac Pro for heavy video editing. Already owned a 2012 MBP 13 RETINA, 2011 Mini, 2012 iMac 27, and 2009 Mac Pro. Using the 2009 Mac Pro for capture, and editing on the iMac. The workflow involved with capturing in ProRes 422, then editing, rendering, and compressing was just taking too much time. Not anymore. Like the title says, this beast is everything they promised. Internal read/writes are @ 900MB/s, there are tons of TBv2 ports, enough USB3, and it's sleek & beautiful. Using dual 27 HDMI monitors, watching Netflix, editing video in FCX, importing video from my portable external storage (using a TB to eSATA adapter)...all at the same time...and doing whatever else I feel like, has proven to be, well, not even a strain. I would suggest the 6-core or better for rendering segmented MOV's, since core quantity will still be important in that scenario. Having 6-cores at over 3.5GHz is just honking awesome. Although a second HDMI would've been cool, I find the TB to HDMI dongle to be quite acceptable. It it expensive? Yes, and that is a drawback, but it is a class apart, and actually made in the USA. I don't actually have enough/proper words to describe the coolness of this tech. If you're on the fence...don't be.

I've searched several case for my 27 apple imac but most of them are either more heavy or poorly designed. This item is perfect designed for 27 apple imac. No matter what kind of way you are on your travel, mac are perfectly protected. well, there is one shortcoming, namely, weight. But only by this way, can the mac be well protected.

Upgraded from an aging 27 iMac to an Mi Mac mini and (obviously) needed a display. This LG display works great with the mini. Provides more screen real estate than the iMac and looks very comparable set at 2560x14404 (same resolution that was used with the iMac). Text and videos look very sharp. Works well with games like Diablo III. Display stand easy to set up with the snap-in system used to connect the base to the display.
