This clip is great. It has a low profile, and it perfectly fits most of the pencil condensers in my collection.

This purchase replaced two of my 5 MKH8050's that went missing. They are great mics that there was no question I needed to replace. The Sennheiser MKH8050 (hypercardiod),and the other MKH mics, have a very smooth on and off-axis frequency response, are very quiet, and being RF condensers ( unlike almost all other condensers) are not affected by very humid conditions( no cracking/popping). I've used the MKH8050 on almost every instrument you can think off with outstanding sound: eg kick drum, bass/guitar amp, brass, woodwinds. acoustic guitar, banjo, violin/viola/cello/bass, kalimba, sitar, drum overhead, tabla, djembe, cajon, choir, classical style vocals ( mic'ed from few feet distance). Great for live sound and live recording. Rycote INV-3 are perfect shockmount clips to use with the 8050 ( and the 8040, 8020, 8090). I don't bother with the standard clips-esp. since the mics and the INV-3 shockmounts are very small and this is a bonus for video work. I don't do boom work but many write that this mic is one of the go-to choices for boom mics (esp indoors where off-axis pickup needs to be smooth).

I bought a pair of these to replace some older condensers I had as drum overheads. They sound SO much better... silky and smooth. To get all the pickup pattern options for this price is unbeatable. I'd have no hesitation to get another pair, they sound great. There is no discernible background noise at all, so another reviewer must have had a bad one. I've mostly used the hypercardioid pattern to reduce bleed from the rest of the kit and reflections from the drum enclosure, it works well. They come in a wooden box and have a good shock mount mic clip too.

This microphone and its brother, the e865S (with an on/off switch) produce rich sound, much like a dynamic microphone even though they are condensers. They feel very solid and well built, and in that sense, they are fairly heavy. They deal fairly well with handing noise.

I researched many lower cost, large diaphragm condensers and heard Ken Callait recommend the SM27. I planned to purchase it myself, but my wife bought it for me as a Christmas gift, and I've already had the chance to use it on a variety of sources. It is clear and pristine sounding. It works very well on percussion elements, acoustic guitars, and works well for certain types of vocals. I'd find it a little too clean and pretty sounding for rock vocals or anything where an indie vibe is the aim, but if clarity and pure translation are what you want, this mic really delivers. The packaging is nice (I got the version with the shockmount and velveteen case), and it's obviously of solid build quality. Well worth the price tag.

These are the world's best inexpensive pencil condensers. You can spend hundreds more and not get anything that sounds any better. They are warm, very accurate and not tinny or bright - unlike most budget chinese condensers. I've used them to record acoustic guitars, banjo, mandolin, cello, viola, violin, sitar, tabla, hormonium, tenor, baritone and alto saxophones, clarinet, and drums. I've used them as room mics, spot mics, boom pole mics for film and video, as a XY stereo pair to record string quartets, jazz ensembles, orchestras, classical duos, trios and soloists. These things are THE best piano mics I have ever used. Bar none, hands down. I've recorded Steinway Model Bs and Ds, Mason & Hamlin Model As, Bs and BBs, a Baldwin SD-10 and Yamaha C-5 with them. All sounded great. Two of these and a Zoom H4n and you've got a portable recording studio. They are part of my standard field kit for location music recording and production.

I've had these for several months now and still can't believe how great they sound. I usually gravitate towards condensers with transformers or mics that aren’t too bright. These are beautiful, full-sounding mics with a nice mid-range and amazing clarity, but they never sound harsh. Useful on many sources. Very solidly made. They have the utilitarian flexibility of my C414 B ULS mics, but with that added brilliance / air that the B ULS mics don't have.

Good quality windjammer for the price. Snug fit and works well on my small pencil condensers. Does everything it needs to do and does it inexpensively, can't complain about that!

I bought this ORTF Microphone for a Live Piano/ Oboe concert. Amongst some of the other top condensers I own it played a crucial role in picking up the Balance from the FOH in the Audience. It did an amazing job. I basically used it as my main mic and just filled in the Mix with some of my closer condensers. The recording was of a Piano/ Oboe concert with as many as 12 oboist playing at once. It was quiet, Smooth yet Silky on the top. I thought about the Schoeps but for a 20th of the price I cant see how I could be any happier

This microphone is incredible. I have many more expensive large diaphragm condensers that I haven't touched since buying this from B&H. Also, it looks awesome, and gets plenty of compliments in my studio. It's crazy to be able to compare a $250 microphone to others that cost 10 times more - but you can with the Aston Origin!
