Used this to set up a home recording studio where I constantly have to reposition the mic. Was worried that this would have issue that I've seen other booms where the motion itself would cause a lot of audio back into the recording, but this one was surprisingly smooth and quiet. Additionally it had wire guides and velcro straps so that the mic line going over each of the joints was really easy to secure and not likely to get tangled or pulled during the motion. Very nice attention to detail. Only negative that I noticed was that the screw tensioner to hold the mic boom in a particular position, The silver knob right at the end next to the mic, this was difficult to tighten enough to keep the microphone locked into a particular position. But this was minor and with some adjustment, it's easy to keep the mic where you want it ... Overall, I'm very glad I purchased this.

Used for SFX recording in the studio and in the field. Great s/n ratio, no color, great off-axis rejection. Does everything it says on the tin.

Used for video recording in studio and field. This head and tripod combination is very good. I looked at quite a few video tripods and I thought this has everything I need. I already have the 502 head on another manfrotto that is approx 20 years old and has yet to let me down. The only difference is this set up has 75 mm bowl base for quick leveling which is essential for video. Ill use the other for a jib. Look around and compare but this one fits the bill for everything I am doing and should last for many years.

I use one SS-6B for half of my live musical gear and a second for the other half. I will purchase another for my recording studio to ensure clean power. A great deal for line conditioning!

I am an independent filmmaker on a shoestring budget (like most of us). Used to work in a studio with high end gear - wanted that kind of quality in a more affordable size. This tripod is that. The thinnest legs may be a little wobbly with a heavy camera, but I use a DSLR and it's perfect.
