Using Lithium Batteries With Solar Charge Controller

2024-06-09 03:13:50

I bought this to initially charge before installation, and then to maintain, 200kwh lithium solar batteries. The unit gets pretty warm and takes a bit to charge them fully, but it finally brings the batteries to the factory recommended charge point. It accommodates lithium batteries with Battery Management Systems (BMS), and it's important that a charger be compatible those systems.

I have been using this camera since April to monitor our remote property. I am using Energizer lithium batteries plus solar panel and it has been working flawlessly ever since. Highly recommended for off grid monitoring

I love the compact size of the charger, and it seemed to charge my lithium batteries quicker than my last charger.

I use this to charge lithium ion batteries for my Leica camera and my other small lithium batteries for my Panasonic Lumix camera.

The Dou charger not only allows the charge of 2 batteries but it can use different power supplies. I am able to charge 2 batteries at a times using a solar battery pack such as the DigiPower Solar Portable Dual USB 15,000mAh Battery RF-PBSLR15 (bhphotovideo.com). It can also be plugged into any USB charging port.

I’ve seen the hood and bad reviews on this camera, I’ve experienced some of the issues that other had. But I will say every single time I experienced those issues it resulted in batteries whether lithium or alkaline. Unfortunately, you will buy batteries and 1 may have a low voltage/charge. Other times I could just remove the batteries and change their position and they’d work. Well after getting 1000’s of pictures over 3 weeks and having to go to woods to replace batteries I decided to get a solar panel. I bought a Herd360 25,000mah solar panel kit and I haven’t had an issue since hooking the camera up. It stays fully charge most days and even if it does drop (10%-15%) the next sunny day it’s charged right back up to 100%. I’ve switched the camera from video to photo to a few of the other features and it just keeps going. I highly recommend this camera works great and will run indefinitely if hooked up to a solar panel battery kit.
