Using Olympus Camera With Panasonic Image Stabilization

Before you spend more you might want to try out this lens. I spent more...WAY more...for Zeiss glass and L series lenses and my Olympus Pro series 12-40mm lens. While they're all good...so is this lens. Don't let the low price fool you. This lens is well made and I'm completely satisfied with the pictures it provides. Yes, it's a manual focus only lens...but I like that. I use it with my Olympus OM-D E-M1 mirrorless camera. That camera has in-body image stabilization and the ability to zoom in to make it easy to get perfect focus every time. The image stabilization makes me forget I'm 73 years old and sometimes a bit shaky. To top it all off this silver lens looks great on my silver bodied E-M1 (shown with lens, a cheap generic lens hood, and an RRS L plate). 5 |

Is a great camera is compact and the stabilization image-sensor works great. Is my second Olympus camera after ten years. I choose buy another because the Olympus optic is one of the best and the 4/3 system is great because I can use hall of my lenses. 5 |

I had previously said it works with Olympus. It does, but the image stabilization does not recognize the teleconverter. The 300 mm lens gets IS for 300 rather than 600 mm. It still works well, but you do need a higher shutter speed. 5 |

I’ve rented this lens for Alaska vacation previously. I was thrilled with great images of grizzley bears that were hand held. I’ve taken bird pictures with my purchased lens. Same great optics and image stabilization using my Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark 2. note the in lens image stabilization works in conjunction with the in camera image stabilization for Olympus’s premium cameras, but not with the entry level cameras. 5 |

Using this for general spotting for astrophotography and sky gazing. The image stabilization and bright views are simply perfect. Worth the $$ no doubt if you're serious about astro work. 5 |

I have this lens to my Panasonic GH2. The cam is the absolute killer with the Olympus 14-35. Image quality on professional level! 5 |

This lens fills in the spot between my Panasonic 12-32mm kit lens and the Olympus 75-300mm long tele zoom I purchased last month. On the Panasonic GM1 there is no image stabilization, but I am finding the lack of mirror slap and with electronic shutter, I still consistently get sharp handheld photos at moderate shutter speeds. In this case at shutter speeds of 1/30th second at the 40mm end and of 1/100th of a second at the 150mm end. You can get all the technical performance data from the good review sites which confirm my experience with the two Olympus lenses - excellent sharpness wide open to f/11, low distortion, good contrast with minimal ghosting, minimal vignetting - all the good things a lens has to do. And in the micro 4/3rds format, very light and compact. Yes, this lens is all plastic housing, but every fits tightly and operates smoothly. I'm posting my usual shots that attempt to show the image quality, but they have to be downsampled for web viewing so you don't get to see how really sharp these lenses are. They go head to head with my Nikkor lenses in the same effective focal length range. My whole kit now covering 9mmFE to 300mm (18mm to 600mm effective) including the GM1 weighs less than 2 lbs and I'm not giving up any image quality for prints up to 20X30. 5 |

Ive been using Panasonic camcorders for several years now and each one keeps getting better. This camera has solid optical stabilization, good auto focus and all the things i look for in a camera. Only one small complaint i have it on the V770 that i came from, this model doesnt allow you to turn on the led light from the main screen. You have to go into the menu which is a paid, but not a deal breaker. 5 |
