We use the H4N in the field for location and foley recordings. The case is awesome, and lets us tote the recorder into any environment with no fear of damage.

Tried it out on some Foley work Recorded a VW bug for engine sound for a 8mm film. worked great.

I love this product. I use it for on set filming, foley, etc. sounds fantastic. If I had one issue it would be with the step pots on the gain. I perfer linier but this doesent stop me from getting great recordings on this piece.

I've used this combo for field recording, foley, recording dialog with a boom and recording live music. By itself the DR40 is very versatile. Add the Rode and you've got a great low cost film sound solution. And yes, you will need an XLR cable.

Got this to compliment my MKH 416 shotgun mic. did extensive tests recording with Sound Device 633. Great Foley recording, sounded like I was on a Foley stage very dry. Primarily got for production dialogue and it works great for that purpose, has a bit of color but I quite like what it gives, a touch of bass and masculinity, as some have said a bit of an action movie dialogue sound with male voices however when I recorded female adult and child it still gave great tone. Love it!

I'm using the microphones for ADR and Foley on a short film project I'm doing. They've performed fantastically - and integrated with my Zoom H4N (Note: You'll need to provide Phantom Power).

We use this stand in our ADR, Foley, and Voice Over stages, and it's great! The heavy die-cast base makes sure this thing will not be tipping over, regardless of how far you need to extend the reach of the boom arm. Not even bumping into it affects its balance. Grade A quality beef right hurr!

I mostly use this for Foley work, it's fantastic, and an improvement from my NTG2. Very happy with the purchase. In the right settings this mic can get great crisp sound, if outside I use a the Rode Blimp windshield.
