Video Camera Tapes To Digital

I convert customers analog video & audio tapes to digital files using PowerDirector. 100's of satisfied customers. Now expanding so, will order more of the device. A separate computer & capture software is needed for multiple conversions at the same time. Device is very stable, converted tapes of 4+ hrs. without a hitch & has Video Proc Amp settings, not on the fly, I just use sharpening at 88. I have purchased 4 versions of PD all see the device. Hope this helps

I needed to transfer some Hi 8 video tapes to digital on my desktop Mac. This package did it easily with great quality. I like that It accepts S-video for the best possible quality. Now I can edit & burn copies on my Mac.

I've owned the Elgato USB Analog Video Capture Device for nearly two months and have already used it to capture many client videos. This included 25 hours of Hi8 tapes for one client, and 37 minutes of VHS tapes from another client. The capture quality of the audio and video has been perfect, and the operation of the software and hardware is easy. After finishing a capture and before saving the MP4 video, the software allows me to trim the beginning and end, to remove extra blue screen or other superfluous video, a feature that I used a lot. Elgato worked perfectly on my desktop, which I had rebuilt for me in early 2020 so it would be compatible with Win 10. Unfortunately, I had some problems with the HP Z Book laptop I just bought, however. First, I had immediately upgraded the Z Book to Win 11, which wants to save any new file to One Drive. Unfortunately, One Drive has a 5 GB capacity and when it fills up, you're encouraged to buy more storage space. Video, of course, requires a lot of storage space. Users of Elgato Video Capture, therefore, need to remember to click Preferences in the Video Capture window and select the preferred storage location for their video files. A bigger problem was that Elgato was not able to receive the video portion of the capture on the Z Book. The audio came through, but not the video. I contacted Elgato, and a member of their support staff worked with me via e-mail, sending me instructions. There seemed to be no solution, but the support technician worked with me tirelessly, and the final instruction today worked perfectly. I much appreciate his persistence in helping me solve this problem.

As a professional cameraman, I have been using these Sony Digital Master HDV tapes for about 10 years for commercials and web videos. I have about 600 in my tape vault, all shot on my Sony Z1U and FX1 cameras. The tapes are extremely dependable. Amazingly, in all these years I've only seen a few momentary drop-outs, and I have never lost a scene to tape damage. These days I use my HDV cameras for second or third cameras on many shoots, or when I need a special look such as low shutter speed. I am very glad that Sony continues to make this tape, and that B&H continues to sell them.

I had a bunch of antiquated VHS and 8mm tapes laying around that I wanted to digitize on the computer. This product and included software did EXACTLY what it said it would. Now all my videos from yesteryear are preserved in a digital format that won't degrade over time, and I don't have hundreds of tapes taking up space on the bookshelf. VERY easy to use and worth every penny. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a simple solution to convert their videotapes from analog to digital format.

I have had a lot of software downloaded to convert my analog camcorder tapes to digital without any success until now. This product has made everything so easy. I had a little trouble with the right connection to the camcorder but with help from elgato I was able to get everything done and now am able to digitize all my tapes of my kids and family events from twenty years ago. It is fantastic and well worth the price. Prior to this I was at the mercy of Geeks from @as all anyone else knew were PC products. I am very grateful for having found Elgato Systems.

I am currently in the process of converting analog tapes to digital that I recorded in the 1970s-1990s and wanted a suitable mic for a brief description of each session. This mic is perfect for this purpose as it compliments the analog sound of the recordings very well.

Here in Australia, they no longer sell Sony DVM63HD tapes (I always bought them) and in the stores that still some kind of tape only sell garbage, unreliable tapes that have caused issues with my in the past. Digital Masters then, are no longer affordable and accessible here in Australia. Since I can no longer afford the prices for Sony DVM63HD tapes, Digital Masters are actually cheaper for me if I import them from the USA. I have used them in the past for professional work and I have never had issues and never had to worry about them at all. I never bought a lot of them in the past because they were so expensive here in Australia, but now the prices for them are actually really good considering how limited and expensive tape in general is nowadays.
