I wanted another set of monitors to use with an old set. My previous monitors are twenty plus years old, and I figure I'm tempting fate not having a backup set. They still sound great, but vintage monitors are not the same as vintage guitars... I'll be honest, I was planning on buying the Kali's since I never liked the old KRK monitors, but for some reason couldn't pull the trigger. After the Kali sale ended I found this set which included the Mackie Big Knob for free (that I was also going to buy anyway). I took a chance and ordered them. Shockingly I got them the next day even though I ordered them in the afternoon! I even had to check my invoice to make sure I didn't hit overnight by mistake, but it was standard ground shipping. The packing was excellent as well. That's not always my experience at B&H so kudos to them on that. The KRKs have a load of tweaking options but are easy to fine tune from the back. The sound is far better than any soundclip I heard while researching them. They're not premium studio monitors, but they are much closer than the price suggests. For me it's nice they are available in white since my old monitors are also white. KRK has definitely improved dramatically since I first tried them years ago. I hope they last as long as my old monitors. 5 |
