Vintage Motorola Radio Repair

The Motorola CLS - 1110 is a fine handheld radio. It has decent range and can be programmed so as not to interfere with other radio frequencies. More than the radio, however, I was totally sold on the customer service I got from B&H. It was as good as I could have imagined leaving no room to ask for more. Thanks- 5 |

The CLS-1110 2-way radio by Motorola is small, lightweight and easily accessible for my assisted living staff. If only there was a way to eliminate the protruding antenna (can easily get in the way), this would be the world's most perfect unit! 5 |

This was for a vintage tripod I had to repair. (Machined a new bolt and everything....) Works just fine and looks good, too. This is a surprisingly nice little ball head. It feels well made, and the screw knobs are comfortable to grip. It pans nicely, and the ball locks down firmly. The plate also allows a few cm of slide forward and back. The level on the plate knob is a good idea, going to have to test that on uneven setups eventually. My ONLY complaint is that the mark for rotation angle is on the back side, for me, if the knobs are on my side of the head. Not worth making a fuss, but it would be better placed on the other side. Overall, I recommend it. 5 |

I have a vintage (1978) amplifier whose preamp isn't working. A local repair shop wanted nearly $200 to fix it, provided they could still get parts. I bought the PP999, plugged it into a line-level input and started enjoying my record collection again! It works well and is very cost effective! 5 |

My first experience with Tascam was a small portable recorder/player. It was very simple to operate and very durable. It was about the size of a portable radio. It endured several years of use for recording our Sabbath worship services and my weekly radio program. When that unit finally gave up the ghost, I chose to go to a more sophisticated model: Tascam CD-RW900SX Professional. With this unit, I am able to record a studio quality message for both my Sabbath studies and my radio program. Although I do not necessarily need all of the bells and whistles this unit provides, they are there if and when I need them. B&H has been very helpful and responsive in assisting me to solve any problems that have arisen (very few). My first RW900 unit had a problem that I submitted to a Tascam authorized repair shop in my home state of Georgia. They declared it to have been irreparable. B&H had provided an insurance policy of which I took advantage. After I bought a replacement, the insurance company told me to send the first one to them so they could try to repair it. They did. Now I have two units that give me the same professional quality production. Because of the quality of this unit, I decided to keep both of them. Why not? 5 |

Ordered the Shure 565SD-LC from B&H as a replacement for my Vintage 1953 Shure 55s that went bad on my Yaesu FT-2000. I ordered the Shure 565SD on the advice of a friend who is a Musician and a Ham radio operator. This mic works great! Getting consistent compliments on the audio quality of my radio. I might have to buy another one as a spare. KE0SJQ 5 |
