Vivitar Wireless Security Camera Reviews

I needed to connect an outdoor wireless security camera to Wifi but the signal on the main router wasn't strong enough to penetrate a thick masonry wall. The TP-link solved this problem. I set it up inside at the wall needing signal penetration but in line with the router. It worked perfectly - having a booster closer to the camera did the trick.

I normally don’t make reviews, but I thought someone should come in and defend the honor of this gadget after a couple less-than-stellar reviews. For a DSLR/Mirrorless shooter, this thing is a must-have. It’s just a supremely handy thing to have in your bag when you need it. When I’m shooting for the big screen, or need isolated audio tracks or phantom power, I’ll pull out my MixPre. But for simple web videos when that’s overkill (whether interview or run-n-gun b-roll), this thing’s great when you want to get 2 audio sources into the 3.5mm input on your camera. Obviously, there’s no pre-amps or phantom power, so I tend to only use with sources that have their own built-in preamps (like wireless mic receivers or a Røde videomic pro). I can lav up two subjects with my Sennheiser wireless mics and record each subject to a separate channel on my camera (on on the left, one on the right), which is amazing flexibility to have. Or I can run a wireless lav into one channel and my Røde Videomic Pro into the other and have that great lav/shotgun flexibility. All in all, can’t say enough good things about this device. Dollar-for-dollar, no device expands the audio capabilities of a DSLR/Mirrorless camera like this thing does. Just make sure you set your expectations right. And that means plugging in devices that boost their own signal.

I was so convinced by all the reviews I bought 2. Finally wireless strobes.

Just perfect...lives up to it's reviews and then some. One regret in retrospect is I should have gone one step up and ordered the security for the extra height and depth. Just means I'll need to rethink my essentials.

Wifi gets great reviews for obvious reasons. Great security options and great speeds.

This converter allows me to use my Vivitar macro lens on my new Nikon D7100 camera. I also have many filters for my macro lens so they now work with the Nikon D7100!!!

Got this to extend the range on my wireless modem for my security cameras. So far I love it!!

I've used Kirk plates and brackets for all my gear for years and its been superb. As I think has been noted in other reviews, I wish this had the security screws to prevent accidental slipping, but that's rather minor. This also works well with the Kirk plate on the Z6 body as well.

Considering the name vivitar from years gone by - was never the top brand but made its name present in the camera business. I bought this bag hoping that it would meet my needs but thinking maybe not. After I received the bag - this bag is great - the photo does not do it justice! I love mine!

You would think that a chunk of translucent plastic would be useless as an on-camera flash modifier. I believe this apparatus works as a light distributor in 360 degrees. I tested this product with both a Vivitar 283 and a Vivitar 285HV on a EOS 5D Mark III. It seemed to work best when I set the camera setting to Av mode at a set aperture rather than in M mode and let the flash do the work. Of course, using a slower shutter speed allowed the available light to "invade" the image and allow more "depth of field" with the allowance of light. In the Av mode, the shutter speed was slower, the IS of the lens allowed for a focused image, and that allowed for the exposure to be "perfect" if there is such thing. I cut my teeth on film and digital follows in the tradition of Adam's Zone System and everything works on digital as it did, does in analog. I was completely blown away to this fact. Enjoy your new toy. This is a PJ's staple for "controlled" flash light!
