Vizio Sound Bar Side Speakers Not Working

We own several VIZIO products and have grown with the brand for many years. With each new unit, we're more impressed than the time before. Not only for the quality of the product itself, but the small details that go into the getting the unit up and running. The M512a-H6 sound bar with Dolby Atmos and DTS:X is the latest example. First, I want to point out the sound bar is more than just a bar. It's actually a bar, a subwoofer and two satellite speakers. But even the bar itself is more than just a bar as it includes upward facing speakers in addition to the traditional forward facing feature. This unit includes Dolby Atmos and DTS:X. We hadn't even noticed before that Netflix (and probably others) already support this more immersive sound experience. Technology will continue to improve with each new unit so it's no surprise that it's a step up from the sound system built into a television or even an existing sound bar. But what makes VIZIO products shine is that setup isn't difficult. Units are packaged with cabling labeled to reduce confusion and there are also removable pull-strips over the ports on the sound bar itself. You don't have to have an advanced tech degree to be able to set up this VIZIO sound system. If you're wondering how it sounded... it filled the room well for a captivating viewing (and listening) experience!

I’m talking about the VIZIO 5.1 Sound Bar Speaker System M51a-H6. If you’re spending more time watching movies, you’ll be shopping for this unit this weekend. If you want ATMOS and DTX:X audio this sound bar package packs it with nine speakers, yes 9. A great combination of sound bar speakers, remote subwoofer, and surround sound speakers. One more GREAT point to keep you reading…shop, find it, and be absolutely surprised that you can get this quality at that price point. So as you can tell I’m thrilled with this sound bar and my VIZIO TV. Plug and go. It’s that easy. I have been a fan of large speaker systems that take up a ton of room, wires everywhere because I wanted the sound that I thought you could only get from that setup. More good news. All the sound you’ll want you get with this setup. In addition one remote and a powerful remote at that. If you don’t have a VIZIO TV I read that this remote can learn your TV remote to keep you at 1 remote. Total control with the remote. You control left, center, right, sub, surround, height speaker, effects, equalizer, inputs etc. One really nice element is a remote with a display. Makes it really easy to understand and control your environment. There are some cool things I haven’t done yet. I have used by smart speaker to control things but you can also connect your smart speaker directly to the sound bar. Last the accessory package has everything you might need. HDMI, optical, wall mounts, etc. Ever buy something and then need to order a cable or HDMI cable, or something else. They even provided cable ties to keep your surround sound speaker wire nice and neat. Bottom line, you’ll be thrilled.

Loved my vizio but had an issue with the built in speakers but this sound bar is awesome. Boosts sound and gives your viewing a new experience.

i purchased this model because it was a Vizio product. and it was 5.1, why not get the best out of a sound bar with five speakers. being a non electronic understanding person, i trusted Vizio to make this process pain free. boy was i happy, this bar comes with everything you will need to get it going. you plug it in and it does the rest. i could not believe that it was that simple, quick and instructions easy to understand, i would not hesitate to recommend this sound bar. oh by the way the sound separation is great, the base speaker does a good job and the rear speakers (surround sound) hold their own. i had to adjust the volume so that they would not over power the sound bar. the wife's christmas present is one i will enjoy for a long time, :p

I had a Yamaha sound bar that I thought was good but this Vizio blows it away. The wireless back speakers a a big plus for me. Having to connect wires to the wireless subwoofer is no big deal to my set up.

I love my new Vizio Sound Bar, for a small sound bar, it's BIG on sound the slim design goes well with the decor, I can't say enough about it, thank you Vizio.

I have an older model Vizio TV, and the sound from the internal speakers stopped working. Instead of disposing of the TV, I decided to try connecting it to a soundbar. Therefore, I purchased your soundbar and connected it to the optical in port to the TV, and it works, and it sounds great. Now, if I can get a couple more years of use from the TV, the cost of the soundbar will be worth it. If not, I can use the soundbar with one of my other Vizio Smart TVs.

Works as great as the old vizio sound bar it replaced

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Received the JBL Bar 700 and couldn't wait to set it up. It's replacing a smaller soundbar with subwoofer which was fine for TV shows, but I wanted something better suited for theater experience and movie sounds. Boy does this thing deliver! I used an optical audio cable for the sound input, popped in a Blu-Ray disc with full Dolby Surround audio, and the Bar 700 recognized and displayed that it was Dolby Atmos sound. Sounded pretty great, then I detached the side/surround speakers and placed them on end tables to the side and behind the couch. Even better. Then I paused the movie and started fiddling with the remote and found a calibration option. Pushed the button and thought "why not?" The sound bar began issuing tones from center to surround speakers, went through a few cycles and was done. Re-started the movie and HOLY COW, full surround sound moving side to side and really giving depth to the sound effects. Total game changer and I didn't have to run any wires to the speakers like I've had to do in the past. Then I figured I'd pair it with my smartphone and see how it does as a bluetooth speaker for music. Super loud, clear, and pairing was a breeze. Overall this thing is amazing and the sound you get is beyond fantastic. Only trouble I had was I first tried to chain together the Blu-Ray player to the Soundbar to the TV with HDMI cables. And no matter what combo I tried from the set-up manual, I couldn't get it to work properly. No matter, HDMI to TV and Optical cable out does the trick for me and I'm very satisfied. I've included 4 pictures, the one with the TV is to give you perspective on size, the TV is a 70" model. The satellite speaker detached is sitting next to a seltzer can to also give perspective on size.

Now I want a bigger TV and a bigger sound bar. Vizio products never let me down
