I already had the VLC media player ap installed on my windows 10 laptop, so when I plugged this into my USB port straight from the box, it was recognized and functioned immediately. If your computer doesn't have a driver, Transcend provides one free, but you must download one in order to use external drives--perhaps that's why some users claim their player wouldn't work? 5 |

Had a problem with a friend who wanted to get into film production again after a long hiatus and needed her collection of DVD-R demos transferred to computer for editing. I was attracted to this item in particular because it promised Linux support; ended up using Windows 10 with an upscaling blu ray player. Learned the hard way that programs like OBS Studio, Openshot, Handbrake, and Clipchamp had built-in masks for camcorder and phone aspect ratios and severely cropped the DVD player source picture. I lucked out with trying VLC Media player and it framed and I was able to record the DVD picture honest to the DVD original. VLC saved the project. 5 |
