Volts Lightning Cable

I needed a short cable to access the two 5 Volts wires out of a USB port on my computer. I cut the cable (chopped off the angle connector) and connected (soldered) to the Red and Black wires. What I did is simple and it works but I was also impressed by the quality of the cable; the cut exposes full and even shielding and well insulated very flexible stranded conductors. If anyone does the same, make sure that you use cable clamps to avoid pulling on the wires.

I took a leap of faith when buying this, because there was necessary information missing from the product description. Yes, there is internal electronics to step down the voltage, and it is located inside the dummy battery. (My meter reads 16.3 volts on the input and 8.5 volts on the output, which is fine.) The cable is straight, about 36 inches long. It works fine on my GH4. The camera has a little rubber slot made to allow the cable to pass through.
