I have a DS1511+, DS1817+ and now a DS1821+. See a pattern emerging ? As soon as I saw the ECC memory, I had to have it. I know what all the tech people say about ECC but when I switched to an ECC laptop 6 months ago, I can now run tests for days without it shutting down and the laptop never crashes. So with the old NAS, I have seen some bizarre data loss that I can't explain on the DS1817+ with zero errors indicated. So, I want ECC on my NAS too. Added the 10gb card, works good too but exposes the limitations of the drives you use with transfer speeds. 5 |

I was looking for a laptop sleeve to take to the airport, but I was turned off by the prices and drab designs. I found this cute item on sale at B & H. Not only does it do the job of the $50 models, but it has handles (which you can tuck in) and a zippered pocket which fit my power cord, camera, phone and their cords. I tucked business cards in the handle area on either side. When security asked me to take out my laptop, I simply lifted it out by the handles. It was easy to slide it back into my carry-on. This is a must buy - plus it looks neat with the orange accents. 5 |
