I'm new to multi-camera recording and was looking for the best quality HD from the lowest cost camera possible... I'm poor, poor, poor. I bought two of these cameras to fill 2 of the 4 HDMI inputs to an RGBlink switcher. Works great. Turning it on and waiting,,, pushing the right buttons to clear the data from the screen takes a few tries to learn but it works great AND HAS CLEAN HD HDMI OUTPUT. Made of plastic so DON'T DROP IT... as in ever. I power the unit by way of the USB input/output so it requires NO BATTERIES... woohoo. NO BATTERIES... NO BATTERIES... HOW GREAT IS THAT? 5 |

Has twice the recording time as the battery that came with the camera, so I use it as the primary battery and the other as a back up. When we are on trips I like being able to do as much video as I want-it is much more enjoyable to watch three years down the road than just still photos. 5 |

This my first action camera. I did not want to spend hundreds of dollars for a camera that I would not use all times. So this camera is reasonable priced and good quality. I can not compare with the high priced ones, since I did not had one before. Has a lot of accesories that comes with it. I used it under water and had no problem. Nice shots without leaking. The only con is; with the waterproof housing the sound recording is poor. If you wants sounds to be heard on playback you have to take out from the housing or replace the back lid with the supplied other lid which has apertures on both sides to let the sound in. Used this camera on the back of our Golden Retriever. It was fun to watch the recording. Easy to put back of our dog with the harness which came with a bunch of other accesories that I bought online from a known online store. Wifi connection is so easy to setup. Very easy to watch on iphone or ipad. Also very easy to remotely control the SJ400. The menu is simple enough to manage the camera. The battery life seemed to be ok for me, since I did not use it for a extended time for recording. The most I used for an hour and it was more than enough. 5 |

I have four of these VariZoom VZ-Rock's we use with our HD cameras on tripods. We mainly use it to start and stop recording on the cameras, as well as zooming in and out while filming. They last forever unless you drop one, which is what happened to us. I do not shoot a camera on a tripod without one. You need a camera with a Lanc connection. 5 |

I bought this for a very specific reason, one which I suspect not many do. I am my kids soccer team videographer. As such we needed an elevated camera system to record games for review and highlight reels. I purchased a HiPod 21 foot system which optionally offers an HD camera and HD monitor setup. Given the proliferation of 4K TVs today, and wanting to plan for the not too distant future, I wanted to go with a 4K setup. I also have other uses for the camera, so I wanted better quality recording than the onboard AVCHD/MP4 codecs. I opted for the Atomos Ninja Inferno (found here on BH as well). The recording of games needs fast focus and zoom functionality, with stabilization in the case of the camera swaying a bit when elevated 20 feet up due to wind. But also it was paramount that the camera HDMI output had a clean output at 4K. This camera can put out 4K 30 and 4K 24 out the HDMI cleanly. This is an uncompressed 8bit 4:2:2 signal. The Atomos can record up to 10bit 4:2:2 into DNxHR (or DNxHD for HD signals) and ProRes codecs. Thus, you can record from this camera at a much higher quality than you can using the on board codecs, which use 8bit 4:2:0 compression, losing more color and highly compressing it. Mind you.. doing this uses a TON of storage. I have a 1TB SSD on the Atomos, which can fit about 3 hours of 4K24 at DNxHR SQ quality (basically 8bit 4:2:2). Storing all these games over a season is NOT for the faint of heart.. as it will require 25+ TBs of storage. But the end result is working with broadcast quality video to pull from when making highlight reels and other purposes as opposed to editing compressed video with loss of color and quality, then re-compressing after editing, thus losing even more quality and color. For most, this is way beyond what would be needed, but for me, especially as I wanted to eventually get the GH5 and use the Atomos for cinematic recording with that camera, this allows me to use maximum quality out of this camera! 5 |

This is a great Camera with a few tiny concerns to me. The battery takes two hours to fully charge so if you take HD videos you get maybee 30 minutes before needing a recharge so then a second battery is important. Another thing is the HD recording is in MOV format and it will only play in Quick Time on a computer with the Canon software Zoom Browser Installed. Without Zoom Browser installed, Quick Time won't play the MOV format Canon makesprobably because MOV editing capability is embeded in Canon's MOV format I also find that MOV format gets only 30 minutes recording per 4 GB's data versus the preferred MPEG-4 format used on higher end SLR cameras for HD recording that compresses four times better at least. If this Camara could record in MPEG-4 format it would be much better. For example you can put a two hour MPEG-4 movie on 4 GB's data as the film industry uses on DVD's. Other than that I love this camera because it is highly functional, yet relatively small. I avoid those big SLR camera's because in many situations they are too intrusive to use casually in public and are easily left at home because they are a pain to lug around. This is a very practical camera for all uses except professional wedding photography and the like. 5 |

The Turtle Waterproof 3.5 HD Case is very well built and has high quality, anti-static, padding. I have complete confidence that my hard disks are safe from damage while being carried from place to place in any kind of weather. Also good for simple storage. 5 |
