Waterproof Video Camera Reviews 2014

Authentic batteries are always the way to go. I saw reviews of third party ones not being waterproof.

Since I have been working with Sony HDR-GW77 waterproof camcorder in 2014, the original battery has a short time of life. I looked for the genuine Sony battery. But, I found Sony already stopped to produce it a while ago. B&H suggests a Watson NP-BG1 battery from its website. Then, I am so happy to see the great performance of this replacement battery. Plus, it is cost effective. No regret. Thank you.

I'd been looking at this camera ever since I saw it unveiled at CES 2014. I was primarily interested in having the newest BIONZ sensor, and this is by far the least expensive instance of Sony's newest technology. Being an early adopter aside, the major features that make this a pretty amazing camera are it's lock-on focusing, which makes it infinitely simpler to take video of moving things and the 40x zoom which is actually kind of absurd once you get to play with it. I would absolutely recommend this camera to anyone and I would say that it makes a number of very complicated photo and video techniques incredibly simple to do.

Amazing bag, very roomy, waterproof. Ignore the reviews that say this thing sheds wax, it's waxed canvas that is very lightly waxed. It's supposed to feel a little bit waxy, amazingly enough. Room for 4 lenses easily, your batteries, your memory cards, your camera, your camera manual, pens, pencils, lens cleaning kit, extension tubes, and just about whatever else you want. Stuff it to the gills, and travel. That's what it's for.

2014: bought the original Areca 8050 filled with HGST drives and used primarily for Lightroom/FCPX editing. Zero issues with this RAID. Thunderbolt 1 and see 400-600mb read/write speeds. 2020: Upgrade RAID system for more storage and better performance. After reading/watching all the reviews, I was expecting 800-900mb since my laptop/iMac still thunderbolt 2. RAID 5 with 8x WD Ultrastar providing 1100+mb and I couldn't be happier with these results. For anyone shopping one of these, don't be intimidated by the setup/config that some of the reviews note. It's a little bit of work, but nothing horrible. Honestly, I've had Alexa dongles that were more complicated to setup than this. Also: one of the review sites noted this T3 unit is not backward compatible with thunderbolt2 devices. I'm using the Apple T3-T2 adapter and it's working flawlessly. Thanks Areca for making such a solid performing array!

I bought this camera for two things. To video dogs I was grooming and to video dogs I was training. I use these videos for training new employee purposes as well as for the customers enjoyment. I've already posted one on my YouTube channel. It does come with a non waterproof back to the waterproof camera case so you can record sound better. Perfect for what I'm doing. I'm not going to submerse the camera but it may get splashed a bit when bathing a dog. It should be splash proof even with the slotted back on it. I attached it to a chest harness while I was grooming and that worked out much better than a helmet cam would have. You can see clearly everything my hands are doing. And because it's attached to a chest harness it's right under my chin so picks up sound well. Surprisingly it was not in my way at all, although I looked a bit odd with it on. Bought it to replace my 2014 Mac mini. Love that I can use it with 2 4k monitors. I also use it for photo and video editing and it works great.

Got this based on other reviews I read. It's really a perfect size to slip into a waterproof case and is a great single use solution to keep moisture away
